I think Force India may end up with Petrov, as like the article says the other Mercedes teams are pretty much tied up with driver contracts Di Resta and Sutil from reports are open to leaving, and both are on the Ferrari shortlist, so a seat may become available for Petrov.

Of course, he may just end up as a test driver.

Anyone know how credible Sport Blid is?

They are claiming Riccardo is on his way to Red Bull, and makes mention that Kimi is on his way to Ferrari. The translation is not the best.

It's seems logical to me. Ricciardo is a good choice for Red Bull and Sebastien Vettel. Kimi against Fernando at Ferrari that would be fun...

I honestly don't believe Kimi would return to Ferrari.

I would have loved Seb vs Alonso though, as I would feel passionate about who would triumph head to head. Kimi vs Alonso, I like them both so its no great shakes watching them head to head.

But yes it does seem logical, I mean what is the Toro Rosso system for?

I hope that Davide Valsecchi and the future GP2 champion get seats for next year. Its a shame that seats have become about money and not talent.

That would be a logic move for Red Bull to promote Daniel in Mark's seat. Not only because that is the whole point of their programme to promote drivers as they progress, but Ricciardo is actually good and I think he has a good future if he lives up to his apparent potential.

And people like me will always wonder at how Vergne would have done with his sh*t sorted.

I do agree, if Riccardo does not outscore JEV this year, it will not exactly look great him heading to Red Bull on a 2 year teammate loss, whilst his teammate may end up in limbo. The jury is out for me on both JEV and Riccardo, I have heard decent arguments on both sides of the debate.

And yes I am a cowardly fence sitter on this occasion.

Not Silly Season news now. Reports are emerging that Ricciardo will be named at Spa as Red Bulls 2nd driver for 2014.

I think Ricciardo fits Red Bull mentality better. Namely qualify and lead from the front.

Verge isn't the best qualifier, but is a good racer, whilst Ricciardo is a good qualifier but falls back in the race. People say race craft can be learned, but speed is a God given gift. I think that is what Red Bull are thinking: in Verge they know what they are gonna get, he's closer to his ultimate potential. In Ricciardo they have someone who can be made better by focusing hard on his race craft.

Either way, I'm not betting on Ricciardo improving his race craft to such a level that he can compete with Vettel. I think all the good F1 drivers learn race craft themselves, and pick it up fairly quickly, something I have not seen from Ricciardo.

I agree, and that was my argument in a nutshell.

But if you look on previously pages, people think JEV has the speed but does not conserve his tyres right to show in in qualifying. I do not want to steal anyone's argument so have a bit of a scour if you want more info.

I am open to both sides of the debate until we get more info.

That is one possibility too. Maybe he isn't aggressive enough to bring his tyres in. Also, I think JEV, like Prost and Button, gears his car for the race first and foremost, which allows him to move forward during the race. Who knows.
