Good time ahead for STR, they can develop their chasis along with honda engineer that very open. The driver pairing not strong compared to other except williams and sauber, but only get better as the millage in the car increased. And they play safe right now and not doing glory run, but May paid off in term reliability especially in Hot track plus mexico.
I wonder what would be fastest time if sainz still in Toro Rosso. But I also very hopefull about them, Gasly and Hartley
i don't think Sakura surprised by the good reliability they are the one who made the PU and i think they still behind the other 3 manufactures like always.. HAAS faster on SS than TR with HS well despite it just testing but speculating you know ...
Does anyone know if Honda has provided Toro Rosso with a quali mode?
Q: (Stefano Mancini – La Stampa) Kimi, will you help Vettel to win his championship this year?
Kimi Raikkonen: I can only drive one car, obviously.

Let's remember the new track surface, which according to Andrew Benson makes the track up to 2 seconds faster than before, plus the use of Hypersofts this year. But there are other variables, that we may not be aware of that could make this time impressive. It's a bit of a head scratches at the moment.

Midfield will be super tight. I think Toro Rosso, Renault & Haas will fight for 4th.
Lol did you not see McLaren's long run pace yesterday in their last stint and that lap by ALO today which AMuS says was with 20 or so laps of fuel, if that's true, McLaren is way out of reach for STR or Haas and just a bit ahead of Renault.
In F1today live testing times there were lap times of 10 laps for both Hartely and Alonso both at supersoft and nearly at the same time of day, Alonso was in average 0.3 faster than Hartely but we don't know about fuel load and consider Alonso's experience and talent.
They had to run steel front wishbones during the whole test. About 7kgs overweight at the front. This needed compensating rear ballast. somewhere in the region of 10-12 kgs
I checked as many photos as I could find and on some it clearly shows wishbones with carbon fibre weave and on others, a satin metalic-looking finish.
Very strange...
If correct, then a saving of 15+kg (some of which is unsprung) would yield a significant benefit in lap time. .5sec?

Claims TR had to use steel wishbones in front
Did it say why they had to?

every single picture shows carbon wishbones ... the 'satin metallic-looking finish' is just the carbon weave photographed in various lighting conditions and angles ... it's the same on every other car
It's rubbish, every single photo of the car shows carbon wishbones - you couldn't even switch to steel wishbones that fast if you had a problem anyway - because you'd have to redesign all the flexures.
