McLaren race pace sensational, all laps where they drop with the times and 0 degradation. Aston can't do three consecutive laps without rising with the times. Well guys get ready to cheer for the 9 and 10 place every race, sometimes more due to the demerit of others. Speechless
god man have you not payed attention to anything that they have been doing over the last 2 years? they have spent 100s of millions to upgrade everything about the team but are just now getting to the point where it can make a difference. they spent the last 4 months stating that their objective is to build a car that is easier to drive and to develop over a season. and they obviously have been experimenting a lot so far in these tests, but its too early to know if they have failed at that. you had them doomed from the first time you saw that they didnt change to pullrod suspension haha. if you cant be a little positive that they have the greatest car designer in the history of the sport starting in less than a week, then idk what to tell you. things are going to get better over this season, why drown this place in negativity before testing has even ended. lets see how things go before we jump to conclusions

Does anyone have a link to a table of race pace laps between Stroll and other cars?
Better you don't see them, otherwise you'll get depressed
To answer someone above, I certainly didn't expect him to fight with McLaren. I expected a car that wouldn't degrade the tyres and would be 2.3 tenths a lap slower than the leading group. Instead what I have seen so far is a car that degrades the tyres and that is 0.5+ seconds per lap slower

Alonso race sim tomorrow afternoon perhaps the most important moment (if it happens). If it continues to show signs of trouble then I would not be very confident for Melbourne

If anyone remembers my posts, I expected the car to be a backmarker and have no expectations. Creativity and car dynamics have been severely lacking in this team for a while.

The silver lining is that Newey will have a ton of windtunnel time the second half of this year.

Anyone else concerned about the wind tunnel not being operational until at least mid season? This makes me worry about 2026 more than anything.

Stroll's long run is very similar to Bortoleto's long runs at Sauber (both with the same track conditions) I think this is not a good sign.

The McLaren on a full tank was faster than this. Ouch.

We were setting slow times in testing last year and started the season 4th quickest in qualy trim and 5th in race trim. Even after tomorrow we can’t say much.

Just gonna have to wait until Melbourne to see the true pecking order

Yeah, honestly thats more concerning than anything in testing. I think they found some problems in commissioning phase which could be a unknown amount of delay. Along with some uncertainty over Honda, its looking like 2026 could also be a waiting year. Alonso's contract runs out after next year.

Regardless of the track time, I really hope they can clock in more and more laps tomorrow. We did only 190 laps in two days. The

More laps = data to analyse and improve

Has anybody else seen this on Motorsport's live commenting? I thought it's interesting.
One thing to keep an eye on in terms of Aston news concerns Enrico Cardile - the former Ferrari technical director who was announced as joining Aston last July. Cowell utterly refused to answer multiple questions regarding a specific start date for the Italian, when he had the option of at least being vague or explaining Cardile’s gardening leave terms.

This could be nothing, but the fact Cowell didn’t once use Cardile’s name when he had the 248 2024 starters ready, speaks volumes…
