I don't have a clue, but the clutch is also activated with paddles behind the wheel. On the other hand, the McLaren KERS button is *not* on the wheel, so it could be that Ferrari engineers have found that a KERS-dedicated paddle is the best option.

PS: Pedro Mtz de la Rosa admitted to the KERS thing, but he wouldn't admit where McLaren have their KERS switch, in case you wonder.
rather think it is engine mapping, McLaren ahd similair last year.

does any1 know what the benefits of this setup are in terms of aero? and are there any structural benefits, noting that they havent changed the front end suspension pick up points.

I think in RBR's case its actually structural, but in Ferrari and BGP's case it looks like an add-on part. I don't know if RBR did it for structural reason, but I think as the nature of F1's Monkey-see-monkey-do way of R&D experiment teams are just trying to pickout the part of the rival car that's the most different from their own and experiment on that....

RB's will be structural because they designed for it. So the difference is:

- RB designed a nose width/depth for strength, whilst also profiling it for aero performance. Its a holistic design, likely to be greater than the sum of its parts..

- the others have an existing rectangular section nose, then to mimic RB, they have added the ridges for aero effects. This is sticking two solutions together, with a result sometimes less than the sum of the parts.

I'm sure I read somewhere that the point of the Brawn "stuck on" parts was to test visibility for the drivers?
Maybe this is similar?

For looks the front damper cover looks like its integrated in the body, the Toyota's/Brawn's looks like someone found some glue and extra carbon fiber peices and voila, a cover

Toyotas looks like they glued a brick in front of the driver.

I don't think they're using that tape to stick it on, it looks like it is just there to protect the nose. Look closely as the tape is actually under the new attachment.

The ferraris' looks the best integrated so far. Could this be an indication that why will actually use it? as opposed to Brawn and perhaps Toyota who are just testing.

Unfortunately Massa's accident had to happen for us to see the undertray of the F60.
