Difficult session, P8 is a bit disappointing for Lando. Has Gasly and Alonso to deal with before thinking about racing Leclerc. Damage limitation mode tomorrow.
Not the Qualifying we wanted or expected… Poor result from Daniel, who unluckily seems that will struggle all year long, it’s a shame because it could be the reason why P3 slips from our fingers… Lando had a better session, but been so far behind Ferrari in Qualy is surprising, it isn’t great to be behind an Alpine and AT for the start of the race.
I’m really hoping that the team sacrificed one lap pace for better tire management on Sunday, with the beating the front right gets, protecting it and avoiding graining would be an smart decision… We’ve seeing before that protecting the tires could result in an important amount of points at the end of the race.
Tomorrow is when the points are given… Let’s hope for a clean race!
I've got a feeling we will not be racing Lec tomorrow at all, hopefully I'm wrong.
RIC was just slow, not that unexpected, but the sport being F1 and supposedly top20 drivers, you should not take whole season trying to adapt to a car.
edit: btw I think the only reason not to give Ric new engine at this point is $$
Enough said about Daniel.
This weekend is shaping more like our pre-summer break, could be we are qualifying at least 2-3 places below race pace position. I’d be happy to take a 5th or 6th and live to fight Ferrari on another day.

The back straight will be interesting to see if anyone can get past there. My feeling is you're gonna make passes on the opening lap and then late in the race, if you can go long on the first stint(presuming it will be a 1 stopper). We'll also see if anyone in the > 10 grid places start on hard, if you have to pit before them and get stuck behind them, you'll be screwed. In General, I'm expecting it to be tough to pass in Turkey.
Lando is stating that the Mclaren hus suffered through the season whenever they have put the Soft tyres on, they don't get on with how the car wants to be driven.

This will explain the race v qualifying issues.
This is a front limited track and that is McLaren car's weakness. The strength of the car is really the back end.

And that could well be part of it too. Fascinating to hear that the Mclaren doesn't get on with the softer compounds. The Red walled tyre this weekend is the C4.
