Mercedes AMG F1 W08 EQ Power +

Wow what on earth Mercedes...we expected a B-spec from Red Bull not from you!! So many aerodynamic devices on this car now...especially this snow-plough under the nose there is huge! Wow I love this year's development...keep F1 that way please!!

i dont believe they can cut 10 kilos.... maybe the 5... and its a big cut already for an F1 car. unless they are using less batteries... and thats not going to happen...
You need to remember that they had a lighter transmission during pre-season testing but had to revert to an older heavier design (what they are using now), so I would say 10 is in the realm of possibility. However it will all come down to how radical the changes they are making are.
I dont think they made the transmission 10 kilos more heavy.. i mean what did they put in there to be 10 kilos more? in F1 1 kilo is a lot!!! im sure they didn't put tungsten in there.... loll ... no way the new transmission is more or less than 2 to 3 kilos lighter... no way!

Need info about weight saving: all those elements under the nose, bargeboards, fin, rear wing, monkey seat

Just a guess but the overall thinner nose probably allowed for the additional aero parts without adding weight.

It doesn't matter which end of the car you look at almost everything has changed or been tweaked, diffuser, brake ducts, monkey seat, floor.
I wonder if some of that weight saving has gone towards bolting 96,000 pieces of aero fins on

1) respect to mercedes that's a huge piece of evolution

2) more easily the opposite: since the nose has to comply crash test, if you want same structural properties in smaller volume usually you have to increase weight

Maybe the 'front diffusor' was the reason for the long wheelbase from the beginning.
Again, it's too high and too smaller area.
What about some kind of Venturi?

When all these wings and flaps work together like expected, they will fly around the track.
If not it's embarrassing tinkering / modern art. ;)

I guess the new structure under the nose serves to have a better handling of the rear (which is more critical in a longer wheelbase car), but wouldn't it make it much more difficult for the drivers to handle the front now? Sensitive front-> easier to lock the wheels, understeer, tyre temps management etc

Wauw

Amazing detail
I love Mercedes they always go balls out.

=D>

Now i can see why Pirelli went for the tire choice they did.
Maybe scared o the additional load?

That new front nose must be worth some df "points".

AMuS just released an article about the new Benz (German).

http://www.auto-motor-und-sport.de/form ... 29631.html

In short:
the new nose required a new crash test

new front shall improve airflow to the rear

Mercedes is going to run a Spec 2 engine in Barcelona.

6 kg weight reduced
