McLaren MCL35

A place to discuss the characteristics of the cars in Formula One, both current as well as historical. Laptimes, driver worshipping and team chatter do not belong here.

According the the team preview they will bolting on their high downforce package... which is to be expected. Not sure if there will be anything that we haven’t actually seen already, maybe just stuff not yet raced

Just the normal high downforce package afaik, t-wings, etc.

Team are pretty excited though, sounds like this years car is a lot more efficient in high-downforce spec than last years was.

That’s great to hear! Last year’s race was good for the team at Hungary, hopefully they can repeat or improve their performance from last season.

That package worked quite well in Austria, and obviously running there improved our understanding of the car compared to the information we gathered during winter testing in Spain. It will be the same again: certainly, the bulk of our testing on Friday will be aimed at understanding how to get the most out of what we have now.

Our programme for practice at Round Three in Hungary is different to what it would have been if this were Round 13 in Hungary. There isn’t a huge volume of test items coming through, and instead we’ll be focussing on understanding the car a bit more and getting more out of the package than we have so far.

Mclaren preview, the interesting bits

“We have come away from the first triple-header recognising similar strengths and weaknesses in the car from those we saw back at testing in Barcelona. This is good because it allows us to keep our priorities for development consistent with what we had previously planned.
“The British Grand Prix will see a continued evolution of the MCL35 with some developments that will be tested over the coming race weekend.”

Very good news that findings/car short comings is further confirmed so updates in the pipeline are still very relevant and valid!

And also more on the way, updates for sec. Silv race and barcelona also

Bring on friday :-)

“Looking ahead to the second grand prix at Silverstone and to Spain, we’ll have further test items to add to the car to provide new insight into potential development opportunities for the future.“

According to the helmet reveal stream on Twitch from today (~07:00 mark), Lando confirmed a new front wing for the MCL35 at Silverstone. I wonder if this relates to why the floor tested at the Styrian GP was not raced.

wasn't it just a joke about the hand drawn car on his helmet?
