What is that appendix about and how is it legal?
Probably exactly the same loophole that Mercedes is using for the little flicks on the rear wing.
What do you guys think the purpose is? Generating a vortex.
There is usually a lower flow area there, with two large counter rotating vortices being shed off the rear wing. It's possible that central flick is doing something funky there, but I couldn't say what.

That looks like a really nice place to put a GoPro for a filming day.

maybe that's what it is, a gopro....ha, ha.
i thought they would have used some flowvis, just get a better understanding of the air flow....but have not seen any leaked pics

The angle of the wing when open does not seem that extreme. Not sure what the aoa would be (difficult to assess the direction of the flow), but I would be surprised if it generates a significant lift.

Wouldn't it just be a pitot tube of sorts? Mounted to the wing directly to actually measure the difference in airflow?

This new appendage looks to fall entirely within the legality box for the DRS pod, if Ferrari had one. Pretty sure that's how it will be justified, as I believe they are using the Mercedes loophole for the halo winglets.

It's probably just for generating downforce, in the dirtiest way possible. First the exhaust flap and now this, Ferrari are really gunning for clever yet utterly inelegant aero innovations. I love it. 8)

It seems pretty vertical and aligned with the flow, I doubt it's there to generate downforce. Most likely some sort of flow conditioner, maybe to help the transition phase.

Was my first guess too. Would make sense considering they had balance problems in transition phase thus wanted to redesign the wing to tackle it.

Might provide a bit of help with closing quicker, it's a moment further off the rotation axis.

Maybe an optical illusion - but seems that the front wing endplate is very different ?

Hi everyone, in addition to what has already been seen in the Monza configuration photos, it seems to me that the t-tray is different, with an extension towards the front

Compared to a photo apparently taken in Melbourne, the engine cover appears to be closer to the exhaust pipe
It is also possible that one of the vertical fins of the Monza diffuser is different (red arrow), but the deformation of the image makes it difficult to confirm

Barge-board is new as well. There appears to be a second vertical element now behind the first, which is connected to the horizontal slats.
