It is doubly insulting that Alo time from Q2 would have been 5-th overall. McLaren and Mercedes are getting better and better, so Alpine needs to score points here and now.
There should be no talk of any sabotage. Renault is a family team for Fernando

What an incredibly bad luck today :(

And what an incredible lap by Alonso. Very frustrating, we didn't had the chance to see him finish it, it would have been a sensation. Still less frustrating then seeing top class driver in a mediocre / bad car again, though. Alpine is fast and at least there is a chance to fight. Great things can still happen from P10 tomorrow.

The car is fast (if not top class fast) but damn what terrible reliability.
I understand trying to extract as much power as possible from the engine since it's gonna be frozen but all the problems seem to come from ancilliary systems which is just unnaceptable.

Developments needed. Ferrari & RB have innovative side pods (Look @ those). Lose 10kg & gain 4 tenths.

Alpine needs half a second & this could be a very interesting season. Last season I was rooting for Max. This season I am hoping Leclerc wins but Alonso is the most unlucky driver in a decade in terms of championship wins. Dude is Senna Schumacher level , one of the greatest ever.

I don’t know if he can win a championship again. Maybe his time has sailed but will be great to see him regularly fighting for podiums & wins. Imagine Alonso vs Max or Leclerc !

This is incredible - I'm hoping we are not seeing a recap of Schumi's 2012 season. Had he not had so much bad luck, I'm pretty sure he would have kept racing for one more year.

It's easier to make a fast unreliable car reliable than a slow reliable car fast. I hope we can battle sainz tomorrow.

That cliche is a double edged sword. Look at the Mclaren MP4-18, MP4-19, MP4-20

If they are chasing reliability all season, they'll score about as many points as a slow, reliable car.

Renault as a team have been battling reliability for the last 6 years so what makes anyone think they'll get it sorted overnight this time?

They've never had a car with the metronomic consistency of Hamilton's Mercedes for example. That car will finish races on 3 tires.

Well they've been behind on power for the last 6 years as well and that seems to be sorted so one can be optimistic

And Merc have never had to build a car with the same budget as Alpine.

Kind of worried about Merc, they already spent Major $$$ on that upgrade they brought to Preseason test in Bahrain. I think everyone else has more upgrades $$$ left and more aero time..

It's crazy to have this amount of small failures, trying a little too much to shed a couple of kilos perhaps?
The team needs to take a good look on their process and address this.
