Alpine A522

A place to discuss the characteristics of the cars in Formula One, both current as well as historical. Laptimes, driver worshipping and team chatter do not belong here.

You misunderstood this one. I appreciate English may not be your first language so let me explain. The term 'I stand corrected' essentially means 'you're right'. In other words, @hollus is admitting he has been corrected by you
Ok misunderstood, sorry for that, something new learned, but yes my intentions as said was just to draw attention to that front wing in case of any changes, etc....
No worries, thanks for pointing it out. Both cars in the pits quite a lot this session. Ted reported new bodywork was taken back to factory for inspection overnight because of cracking
It was from Ocon's car. Other than that, there's no much to be worried, the rest of parts are ok.
About sitting in pits, probably reviewing data and doing setups changes. Alpine updates are a bit tricky to make work at it's best.

Is that elevation (red ↑) 100% aerodynamic, or is 'just' avoiding the exhaust manifold...
IMO it's a bit of both. I guess the elevation will invite air to accelerate above it, lowering the pressure there, which will attract more air into the valley & toward the rear

If it wasn't aero, then why would the dip before it? It's most definately aero.

Funny enough, I've always had the impression since pre season that a day teams would start sinking in their sidepods in that same fashion Alpine did. Just seemed pointless having that extra unused area with the radiator not consuming that whole area. And there's aero gains, certainly. Now, I wonder how that line of cold air going down that section reacts to the hot air coming out of the radiator gills.

It seems Fernando’s luck was part of the upgrades 😉

No they made a swap with Ocon's car
"We now know that it was an electrical malfunction in the high-pressure fuel pump" Szafnauer. http://motorsport.nextgen-auto.com

That part is standardised since '22 though (yellow arrow on the old show-engine).
It's outside the seal perimeter so it can be changed without penalty.

Is this part pushed inboard, or am I seeing things?

That looks a lot like the RB rear wing.

You're seeing things cause of the coiled cable sitting in front. It's convex not concave. That is the wing with the larger opening on the edges, cutout endplates above and behind the wing where it terminates with Spock ears.

Indeed. It's normal
