McLaren's rear wing is not as loaded as the others though, so some straight line advantage should be there assuming same engine modes and fuel loads.

By the way, in terms of overall dimensions, only Aston and Mercedes have a larger rear wing. The rest have dimensions comparable to McLaren. Therefore, I do not expect any gain in speed on straights. The main thing is that losses on straights are minimal.

As good as the race runs look, the other teams always find more going into saturday. , the team usually arrives with a setup that is 95% of the way there, which cannot be said for other teams.

We have this discussion every week. McLaren has their normal run plan and it looks like that. With this improved pace it means they are sometimes top of FP1 or FP2. It does not mean they are doing glory runs or similar.

Just for the record guys I was being sarcastic about the low fuel- high engine modes.
It’s just usual for McLaren to top FP1 & FP2 when usually they don’t show their hand till quali so I was sarcastically saying that they must have changed their Friday run plans

The early 10 lap run in medium of Lando in a track without rubber is ominous of the speed of McLaren.Only Vestappen and Piastri can run close to it

Yep, Mercedes looked very strong early on and they barely improved on the softs. And they are close in the long runs.

If that's true about engines or Lando just playing mind games, remains to be seen throughout the rest of the weekend.
