Yeah unfortunately that's just a car characteristic I expect. Unfortunately this season it seems that a lot of tracks ended up as medium-hard one stoppers. The hard tyres have never worked that well on the rb20
That's brutal.lio007 wrote: ↑01 Dec 2024, 21:49Wow...must have been quite a disappointing stewards meeting yesterday for Max in terms of GR: https://www.motorsport.com/f1/news/vers ... /10678443/
It's hard to criticize the car pace on hard today. Norris did not pass him before getting penalized and Max was definitely faster than the Ferrari of Leclerc who was holding Piastri.
Yea it's difficult to say with any certainty but Norris put in multiple laps that were 0.5s faster than anything of Max's. So to me it feels like McLaren certainly had the upper hand in the final stint and probably would've converted that into a win, had Norris not received the penaltyPierreW wrote: ↑01 Dec 2024, 22:09It's hard to criticize the car pace on hard today. Max had no reason to push after Norris got penalized while Norris had to get the 10th place and the fastest lap point for McLaren.organic wrote: ↑01 Dec 2024, 22:12Yea it's difficult to say with any certainty but Norris put in multiple laps that were 0.5s faster than anything of Max's. Being faster than the Ferrari's at this track specifically is not much of a consolation, as good as their car is. It just does not suit this sort of track.
You'd like to hope so but usually max doesn't let his foot off the gas much even when cruising out frontAR3-GP wrote: ↑01 Dec 2024, 22:14You would like to hope that Max let off the gas there. Norris was driving flat out to get into the points. He probably wasn't managing in any corners whereas Max still was. That's easy half a second on a momentum circuit like that.
Regarding Piastri, piastri is no benchmark so I don't consider his pace.
Dont think much was 'solved', this track simply suited the Red Bull much better as many expected it would. Mclaren still ultimately seemed faster, which was also expected, but Max dominated track position and drove perfectly as he so often does; proving how much he earned this WDC.
I think he was managing more than usual today. He said that he was trying to manage the first stint but pushed because of Lando. I am assuming he was more comfortable in the last stint.organic wrote: ↑01 Dec 2024, 22:55You'd like to hope so but usually max doesn't let his foot off the gas much even when cruising out frontAR3-GP wrote: ↑01 Dec 2024, 22:14You would like to hope that Max let off the gas there. This car still needs that extra bit of lap-time win races comfortably. I agree with this. Max is relentlessly consistent.Seanspeed wrote: ↑01 Dec 2024, 23:08Dont think much was 'solved', this track simply suited the Red Bull much better as many expected it would. No, he had cold tires. Similar to Ver. They had massive issues on getting the tires up to temp after driving through the pits.
Damn. He surely is getting sacked by forceful retirement.basti313 wrote: ↑01 Dec 2024, 23:41No, he had cold tires. Similar to Ver. They had massive issues on getting the tires up to temp after driving through the pits.
He just spun on lack of talent.
Then he smoked the clutch according to Marko. Seems like another bad error. At least it looked strange how he tried to get going into traffic with the steering wheel upside down.
