Guys, guys... Bernie is a goner. He knows it. He's just trolling. And generates noise. Smoke curtains. To distract and attract. To make headlines. Move along, nothing to see here.

F1 is in a sad state, indeed. But, it's normal. It will either self-heal or commit suicide. The latter I find rather unlikely. Time will tell.

That interview in Autosport is incredible. I think F1 will implode with Bernie starting to lose comprehension of reality.

This is routine stuff from Bernie, at least its not as bad as his comments that Hitler was able to get stuff done.

Probably just generating publicity for F1 ahead of the season finale. After Sunday next week, nobody will remember or care about his comments anymore anyway.

But yes, it's definitely gotten to the point where it's always hard to tell whether what he's saying is just strategic or or sign of senile dementia :<

It honestly sounds to me like he has demetia, he doesn't really seem to comprehend whats going on or what he's saying.

No its not, lashing out at the fans is indeed something completely new and unexpected, Dieter Mateschitz must be furious.

Precisely. If you think about the demographics of Red Bulls customer base, it is surprising the interviewer did not think to pick Bernie up on it.
Long experience has taught me this about the status of mankind with regards to matters requiring thought. The less people know and understand about them, the more positively they attempt to argue concerning them; while on the other hand, to know and understand a multitude of things renders men cautious in passing judgement upon anything new. - Galileo..

The younger fans are watching MotoGP and other interesting race series...interesting being where it doesn't feel like close to, or is a giant spec series.

You would be amazed by how impressed young fans are if they ever have the opportunity to be in the presence of older grand prix machines from the early 90s with their V12's or other engines. You can't attract young fans when the cars are so thoroughly unlikeable, and homogenized in their appearance as well as performance. The true young fans are taught to embrace their uniqueness in every day life...why would they be attracted to a homogenous environment that doesn't feel unique or genuine?

Moreover, the "green" thing might be a biggie among the pc-kids, but not among others, my 15 year old couldn't care less.

I think the green thing is drastically overstated. Most people do not care about it.

The problem is that you've got the media and politicians speaking more heavily on it, but they aren't any real indicator of what most people think. Politicians these days are too busy appealing to the lunatic fringes of their political parties as they are the ones who will be paying attention most heavily to everything they do, or say.

If F1 announced tomorrow that Ferrari could have their V12's back, the public reaction would be overwhelmingly positive.

The only people who might lament it are the small minority who are obsessed with trying to save the planet.

I think it's more than anything else a journo thing GB, plus for others with the same need to document how "good" they are.
