Alpha Tauri AT03

A place to discuss the characteristics of the cars in Formula One, both current as well as historical. Laptimes, driver worshipping and team chatter do not belong here.

The floor looks more like the ferarri imho, I believe Alpha Tauri is a testbed for Redbull to evaluate their rival's concepts which don't work with the aero philosophy they are running cuz that floor has ferarri written all over it,
Full Height
No curve
No stepped sections
The venturi tunnels
The shape of the vanes at the front section are all ferarri inspired.
Ferrari has steps.
It's either an early season ferarri or the Mercedes but I remember seeing one of the big three with that exact floor design.

I don't see anything visible new to be honest today. Must be waiting til tomorrow to put it on the car (as they might lack spares)

This is the specification used at spain

It is the same apart from the rear wing

Would like to have some words with whomever made this attempt at a table

Another team making the shoulder of the engine cover more prominent.. that narrative about Mercedes having large shoulders being a large drawback of their concept is amusing in hindsight

Interesting that they've ditched the mouse hole. Guess having the mouse hole without the floor skate isn't the way to go.. seems teams with skates have the mouse hole and those without move away from it

The large shoulder on the engine covers was equated to breast implants by a certain user here!

Small ridges (white arrow) for AT & MCL, like the A522 in Bahrain.

It seems AT put new gills in the canyon there, and they seem to capture air instead of expelling it...
#boundary layer suction?
Unless I'm seeing things and its just a shadow

Looks like shadow to me. The shadow coming from the gills higher up.

Another angle:

It may not look like it exactly but I think there is a bargeboard there, it's just not big; the angle makes it look like it's not really extending beyond the floor leading edge, but I think it does a bit. But yes, you're right it's a much smaller bargeboard than most teams run now. Way smaller.

The only comparable bargeboard area I can remember is the Ferrari launch spec and Williams launch/British GP spec:

Williams have since developed that area and built it up again into more what other teams have.

Seems like it might be a particularly sensitive area. If making lots of other wholesale changes in the area, better to peel it back and develop a different part later
