I’m a professional SRE Incident, problem and service level manager (I built my companies IPM department from scratch), finding patterns is what I do, and it’s what engineers do generally. If you Can’t find a pattern to a problem, it’s generally regarded as unpredictable, or at the very least, hard to replicate.

But maybe if some of you guys understood how professionals solve problems, you’d know this:

Ps NOBL9 is one of my vendors (we use them to measure our SaaS application service levels), I don’t work for them.
I've found the pattern... he was slower... maybe should of drove faster?
And yet he’s still won more races for Mclaren than Lando….
He also has more Q1 dropouts each season than Lando in 4 years total. Damn unpredictable car, right?
Jeez I hope this RIC neverending story will die soon.

Interesting tidbits coming out of Ferrari saying Binotto is not surviving December and Fred Vasseur is the replacement after Seidl declined the position
Hardly a surprise that Seidl doesn't want the job- he's valued highly by McLaren whereas Ferrari seem to replace their boss every 3/4 years. Perhaps he also believes in the long term McLaren project- let's hope he's right to

Will that clean up the hideous livery?

When it comes to performance, if you keep trying to go through a corner faster, eventually something is gonna let go. With McLaren, for a while now, the front lets go first. The driver looses the ability to point the car where he wants it to go, it slides on the front tires, while the rear is still dug in. This is a normal occurrence, unfortunately for McLaren, it's happening at a speed that is slower than it's rivals. This leads to slower lap times and excessive front tire wear.

When we say that a car "understeers", we're not saying that other car don't understeer. just that other cars understeer at a higher speed. The same is true for oversteer.

Also there is a difference to oversteering cause of the speed you're carrying into the corner and when you oversteer cause you've gotten on the throttle too quickly or too hard.

Not sure if that was clear from some of the stuff going around.

Perhaps indicative of another oil/lubricants sponsor in the works for McLaren?

If Mclaren can't give Norris the car he needs, I hope Red bull would take him. Verstappen Norris would be a super team.
I feel, the opposite. Talent should be spread across all teams for more joy for everyone.
I have always felt this way as well but F1 has burned me somewhat. I just don't see how the gaps we saw this year between big 3 and midfield close meaningfully through 2026.

Mclaren will only have 10-15% more WT time than someone like Mercedes and Ferrari. How on earth do you imagine them finding over 1 second in performance relative to the others from that? The timeframe is enormous.
Even though knowing what will happen next season is impossible, I would argue that with stable regulations and how restrictive they are in the current generation, the field should get closer together faster than usual.

Between diminishing returns for those already at the front amplified by lower WT / CFD time should allow the Teams to start closing the gap faster, while for a Red Bull or a Ferrari finding another second in between seasons will be harder, on paper it will be easier for the midfield teams to find it… The teams have had a full year to understand what works, who is doing what well and most importantly have tangible targets in regards to performance.

I’m here hoping that the grid gets bunched up in 2023 a bit more, I don’t think they will catch the top 3 (because I expect Mercedes to join them next year), but to be within a second of the front is reasonable target.

Hopefully but it won’t surprise me if we see Gulf on another car next season. Mclaren have a habit of bringing sponsors or partners to the sport only for them to buddy up with someone else. God help me if we see it on an Aston Martin😬

At the end of the day, it's just a sponsor. It's only an issue if they can't find a replacement. Doesn't have to be an oil sponsor. Doesn't seem to me that McLaren have a shortage. They can keep buying the same fuel and lubricants that Merc does.

With the ridiculous amounts of money oil companies are currently making I’m rather surprised at this, maybe there is someone else lined up

Hopefully we can get a nice livery again with Gulf out the door. I know it’s never going to happen, but I would love to get back to the Vodafone McLaren-Mercedes livery. Most beautiful livery ever in F1 in my opinion.

It's just that small logo at the back right?
