It's even more impressive once you factor in the comprised aero due to worse track surface this year.
The Rears are the same... Front's width will be less...
The headline alteration is a jump from 13-inch diameter wheels to 18 inches, and the front tyre’s width (down by 35 mm to 270 mm).
It depends on the final iteration of the wheels. If they retain the wheel covers - as shown on the model at COTA - it should significantly reduce wake and consequently its management. I'm guessing the sidewall lateral movement would be mitigated as well, so that's another advantage.Jackles-UK wrote: ↑10 Nov 2019, 05:29I think the tyre width remains the same as this year, I’m not sure if they’re sticking to the shallow tread depth that they moved to this season or not though? Many teams wanted to move back to the deeper tread of 2018 at the start of this year, McLaren were one of the few teams against it.
Will the larger wheels be a headache or a relief for the aero guys? On the one hand having less tyre deformation at high load will be seen as removing a variable but equally I expect the teams will have to run slightly more forgiving springs with longer travel to level out the bumps that the tyres currently absorb and that brings its own issues.
thanks, they look great don't they! What a pity they're going to have hubcapsSevach wrote: ↑10 Nov 2019, 01:04https://www.racedepartment.com/attachme ... pg.333877/

I dont see how they look great? The whole car gets a cheap plastic toycar look with them.izzy wrote: ↑10 Nov 2019, 11:06thanks, they look great don't they! What a pity they're going to have hubcapsSevach wrote: ↑10 Nov 2019, 01:04https://www.racedepartment.com/attachme ... pg.333877/

i don't know why you associate them with toy cars? for me they mean properly engineered suspension and much sharper handling, and generally better physics. but it is mostly about association i suppose, how we react to them
I’m pretty confident that next years car will be a reasonable step forward. Seeing the progress they made during the course of the season with a new car project, shows they know what they’re doing. The Renault engine though, I don’t share same level of confidence, I only have hope Renault continue to make progress.Darth-Piekus wrote: ↑10 Nov 2019, 21:20I can't wait btw for the next year to see if Mclaren and Renault Engines will progress even more.
