there is nothing to end. did fia say they would investigate this after the race?
Yes

Sainz just did an interview (like 1 minute ago) saying he still does not know the outcome.

Yes
I missed it.

Well, if they penalize anyone to me looks like a clear PER penalty, I've yet to talk with anyone that thinks SAI is predominantly to blame, at most I've heard is a 60/40 fault to PER.

I don't blame Leclerc. How can you compete with this?
WTF, that's a huge advantage and probably not within the rules. The only question is: why does the blogger notice it and not the team?
Because all teams probably know about this already. McLaren has run this rear wing before.

If it was illegal they wouldn't have run it again. Since it is legal, it's up to the others to exploit it and gain advantage as well.

Oscar had DRS on the fastest lap he set, but if Lando's rear wing wasn't flexing the same way then that seems dodgy. Did Oscar have a moment with the wall somewhere that might have knocked something out of the wing?

How many races went by in 2021 before teams noticed RB's flexing wings? According to the legend it was Ham who saw it in the race, not the engineers.

It was known for a long time but it really heated up by round 5 : https://www.racefans.net/2021/05/20/row ... -blankets/

I agree completely.
Leclerc shouldn't have been in that position in the first place but he could have defended better absolutely. He just didn't think Piastri had that grip to brake so late.
To be honest I don't really care about it and not going to beat Leclerc up about it, but remember that we had the same discussion in the Miami race when Leclerc let Piastri through in the opening laps with the same move in the last corner. Leclerc has to respect Piastri more. He is not a pushover. He will go for any gap he sees. Maybe Leclerc is still not used to racing Piastri.

Uhmm but in that case wouldn't the wing also be a bit iffy in all corners and under any load?

Charles explained that he didn't think Piastri would be able to brake that deep with the grip of the hards and that he also thought he'd be able to get him back with management, etc.

Leclerc's bread and butter this year has been tire management while in just the most recent race, McLaren pit Piastri due to higher tire deg. It makes sense Leclerc thought he would catch Piastri again even if now we know there was no chance.

He was caught out by the handling on the hards and so he couldn't execute the stint as well as he expected. This is also why he didn't just "dive the inside" as some people were wondering during the race, he knew his tires were cooking already and that risk was not worth it, he would've lost the position back anyway.

Unfortunately he put himself in the position by not defending and he only realized after Piastri passed what a big mistake he'd made. Now Ferrari and Leclerc know they can't rely on this going long strategy every time.

Yeah. Had we not lost 6 seconds to Piastri's undercut, things would have been a lot easier too...
