What I am most curious about heading into race #1 of this season is if we'll see a lot of overtaking as intended with these new cars. That to me is as exciting as any potential new pecking order.
I suspect the ability to follow a little bit closer will be cancelled out by the lower slipstream.

Max out qualified in the best car?
Personal best sector times put Charles 0.05s ahead of Verstappen.
Can someone break down which car is easier to drive? If you have a more difficult car, you are struggling to put sectors together. Maybe the RB is best to drive.

Also, how do we quantify how much of the lap time is coming from the driving, and the car? How do we answer this
One possible way is to look at the differences between the two drivers. Each driver has a different driving style (strengths and weaknesses) that can show up in the time differential. This is only an indication because if a better team has two better drivers than a weaker team then the gap will be larger than the differences between the two cars alone.

The other possibility is watching their inputs on the steering wheel. If it's smoother that's a good indication that the car is easier to drive.

Start might be spectacular. With Max and Lewis two very good starters (maybe the best) not at the front, Ferrari with last season sometimes bad starts in the front. With Checo a worse starter then Lewis ahead and KMag to spice the whole thing up behind. I am very looking forward to this.
F2 start yesterday was surprisingly difficult for those on the left side...

I'm a Mick fan, but I must say im disappointed how he looked in qualifying vs Magnussen who has been out a year and driving a completely unfamiliar car. Magnussen was never a slow driver but someone must be able to explain to me how Mick was so far behind him?
Mick is overrated.
Same as Michael.
The reason why Michael was good is, he had plenty of testing time on track plus customized Bridgestone tires. Dont think Irvine or Barrichello had same track time.
Granted he was unbeatable and a monster here and there. Like Bottas ^^

Ok, I will leave it here before others do: Lewis is also overrated 😁

I thought this was going to be policed better?
It's fine. The rules say once there is a good reason for it and no advantage gained it's fine. Perez went on to do another run after that anyway.

Nearly impossible task, we see more corrections from Charles but that's to be expected honestly.
Leclerc is a balls to the wall qualifier while Max aims for smooth perfectionism(imo).

The Red Bull maybe has a better front for slow corners, but Ferrari has mighty rear grip and traction.

This!

The RedBull is better going by onboard videos. It also has better mid to top speed acceleration. I think Max only lost the Q3 battle because of poor tyre preparation/ management likely aggravated by conditions. I expect him to run off into the sunset and manage a ten second gap today. A lot of whispers in the paddock saying we will be seeing many Max wins right throughout the season if Ferrari and Mercedes don't step up.

Cant pay back if the car is half a second a lap slower. It's back to the McLaren years again! Hoping for the odd winning oportunity, maybe on a rainy day, maybe at Monza.. I see no more than three wins maximum for Mercedes at this rate.

So to sum it up, RedBull has a better chassis and better driver than Ferrari. The only thing that is not better is the power unit (which has not been developed by the said team). Typical.

I personally don't think there is evidence available to back up any of those statements.

I was just summing up what Helmut has said (and was being sarcastic).

Ok people,

A warning ahead: WHATEVER happens on track (and off track for that matter), please keep it nice and civil around here. We will take a much harder stance against transgressions this year.

You have been warned. Enjoy the race.
