In general in 2010 his performances were acceptable, especially at tracks where the car was working well - he was on the podium every time Alonso won (except Singapore, where Massa had to start at the back).Shrieker wrote:The accident connection certainly overlooks his Hockenheim 2010 performance, which was a race winning one. I personally think what's undone him is pirelli. Some drivers have gained from switching to pirelli tyres, and some has lost. He's the one to have lost the most imho.
On what basis would you say this? Seems to me that Ferrari have given a fair shake to Massa. I'm only talking about this year ofcourse.NonNewtonic wrote:And also Ferrari is clearly making Massa as the 2nd driver and didn't really give as much support as they gave to Alonso
I think you're right. Also I think he is a driver who needs a good car. He's been used to a good car for a good long time. But if he's no longer competitive he should voluntarily retire instead of being a shell of himself.raymondu999 wrote:I think he's probably past accident effects actually. I think Hockenheim has done his head in, and he feels there's no point pushing because he's the number 2.
But i hope he also understands why he had to move over that day.raymondu999 wrote:I think Hockenheim has done his head in, and he feels there's no point pushing because he's the number 2.
Exactly. Lets not gloss over or pretty up what happened. It was asking one driver to move over to favor another. Nothing else. If Alonso was faster he should have overtaken Massa. They could have told them to be careful while racing.raymondu999 wrote:Felipe wasn't so slow that he would've cost the team a 1-2 though, and he wasn't so slow that Alonso could overtake him on track.
my opinion is that it was done because of the championship positions at the time.Nando wrote:But i hope he also understands why he had to move over that day.raymondu999 wrote:I think Hockenheim has done his head in, and he feels there's no point pushing because he's the number 2.
There was mainly two things that led to the famous radio talk from Rob,
1. He was very slow and held up Alonso.
2. Vettel was catching them both so had they not asked him to move over he could potentially have risked the whole Grand Prix win that day.
I´m sure he´s pissed at what happened but he must understand that he was incredibly slow.
Alonso probably could have passed but i´m sure Ferrari wanted both cars still on the track, there was some hairy moments already before the radio came on.
They did not know that at the time because Vettel was catching both of them.raymondu999 wrote:Felipe wasn't so slow that he would've cost the team a 1-2 though, and he wasn't so slow that Alonso could overtake him on track.
I thought Alonso only won that race by a few seconds from Massa and had a fast lap a tenth or two quicker. That's hardly being so much quicker it was not funny.Nando wrote:They did not know that at the time because Vettel was catching both of them.raymondu999 wrote:Felipe wasn't so slow that he would've cost the team a 1-2 though, and he wasn't so slow that Alonso could overtake him on track.
And Alonso was so much quicker it was not funny.
As Alonso said, "this is ridiculous"
He probably could overtake him but the risks were too big.
Like i said, there was many occasions where it could have ended in tears.
