RBR/Honda in 2019! If Ric replaces Kimi, Gasly will definitly get that seat after todays performance. Car seems to be a bomb in race trim, they just need to get their --- together.

Red Bull Honda 2019 confirmed ? Red Bull Honda has such a nice ring to it.

Like Repsol Honda, I guess  I'd love to see Honda joining Red Bull Racing, basically a works engine for them.

Like Repsol Honda,
Indeed :) The Honda engine didn't look like Renault had something on them this weekend. If they keep getting better (why shouldn't they with 1 more year's worth of development), can't see Red Bull not snatching them.

And Honda would be supplying two teams for the first time too, which would bring additional reliability/development benefits for both teams.

A heaping spoonful of yummy for Verstappen haters like me-

In Bahrain, Verstappen explained that his qualy crash was not caused by any driver mistake, but rather by a mysterious 150 hp spike in the Renault engine. Now RB and Renault helpfully confirm that this mysterious 150 hp spike was possibly, maybe caused by, um, Verstappen's right foot on the accel pedal.

It is not so simple as that. Verstappen WAS caught-out in Bahrein, he immediately said he had a very weird feeling as If too soon the power came in, at first the telemetry also seemed to indicate that. Brundle thought the moment strange, Doornbos On live tv (during Q we switch to studio in between the sessions here in ziggo NL F1. Coverage) as well and he said he spoke to a rb engineer who confirmed the more power too soon.

So there is no Lying in stating you feel the power came too early. Today in an interview with Verstappen on ziggo he said they are still working on finding the iDeal throttle response mapping. They have already made changes. Last year they found it quite early on and he used that throttle response all year.

Just trying to offer Some more input.

That Honda engine is starting to look more and more attractive, no more Renault funny business. Cue Renault blaming Red Bull for their choice of fuel and lubricant. I know it's just a practice session but this is just another nail in the Renault coffin for Red Bull.

The deadline Renault gave Red Bull to choose their engine for 2019 (which was May) isn't even that extreme anymore. I think we are almost sure they're gonna go with Honda for next year.

Honda looks more powerful than the "holding back" Renault already, Honda hasn't proven it's reliable (but it's not a joke anymore either) but neither has Renault.

The choice seems obvious.

Sky asked Horner that same question. He said the battery issue was the same one that they were seeing in testing, so it isn't just RB. If the turbo went (onboard sure sounded like it) I wonder if it is a similar to what happened to Fred in testing.

Sorry rahul but that is just not true, Ric is not overdriving, Max is not overdriving, it is Just bad luck. RBR are just following Renault directives.

Renault gave an extra 15hp this weekend, Ric was just the first to see the limits of the engine, I assume they turn it dow again and the others will be “safe” and slow(er).
