This is very helpful. I've noticed everyone else has their times go up during the course of their run as the tires go off but McLaren is flat or even improves. Evidence that they are very full and/or driving to a delta

Wouldn't read too much into it. Already did a 1m19.387s with c3.

McLaren fastest time is a 1:18.553 (C4) from Norris (day 2).

I'm certain they would have if they went for a C5 run. Let's see what next week brings, we'll start to get a better picture then.

They managed 425 in 2017 and around 600 in 2018, so they’ll be much better prepared

Nice mileage and nice long-stints it seems. I wouldn't read too much in the latest laps with the softest compounds, not much to read. They did almost the same time in day 1 with a harder tire. Maybe, they're saving a proper "glory run" with Alonso next week (if it happens), hahah.

Times are totally pointless when the teams are trying to have a basic understanding of the car and to verify that there are no unwanted surprises. The car will change a lot between now and Melbourne. The top 3 and the well funded teams like Mclaren and Renault will make bigger steps. These regulations are new and the development rate will be really high in the beginning.

They haven't even run the C5 tyre, so I don't know what you're on about. The difference between C4 and C5 is already 6 tenths, so they can easily do a 17.8. Norris was on to do some fast laps, but the Alfa caused two red flags.

i am happy with the team progress ..i keep only 2 thinks from this 1st week ...the speed traps and lap numbers ...compare previus years its from other planet this year car ...mclaren it was more than 15km/h down and it was impossible to do 10 lap stind ....the lap times is not importal ...if some one have a good car ..trying to hide a lot ...to keep away the eyes ...look like mclaren for the 1str time ..is ready to stend his time and forces to ad performance to the car and not trying to find solutions for his problems and from where they are ...and something for me...i right here very soon last year ..the major problems for mcl33 it was desing limitations ..and it was not only the distance between front tire and sidepond ....at the same time a lot of people blame the aero and drag ..and for the future ..mcl34 need more lower center of gravity + less weight ....not a lot progres but maybe is out there cars better on this side
