Sooo... Seems like they raised the car and sacrificed performance a bit, to alleviate the bouncing ? Otherwise they may not be able to finish the race.
Maybe they'll be at the sharp end when (if) the bouncing issue is solved.
Yes. I can post a screeshotsilver wrote: ↑19 Mar 2022, 18:23Did you watch the F1 live timing?shamyakovic wrote: ↑19 Mar 2022, 18:21I didn't see any issues with top speed.. they lost all their time in sector 2..and they are on par with Ferrari in s1 and s3
I don't know from where u r getting this.silver wrote: ↑19 Mar 2022, 18:26So the PU is down on power, chassis is not in a happy place and just now Toto admitted, they are carrying a lot of drag. It seems like they have gone the route of 2019, "downforce at all cost" and have ended up in a vicious situation and they started work on this car concept in 2020.
They were 3 tenths slower than their q2 time, so its probably 3 to 3.5 tenths. they went out with old tyres and that would have messed up their further runs.Hammerfist wrote: ↑19 Mar 2022, 18:270.7sec is a large gap to find. The race pace difference will probably be 1 sec to Max's Redbull. Not looking good for Merc this year .
He did? Really?silver wrote: ↑19 Mar 2022, 18:26So the PU is down on power, chassis is not in a happy place and just now Toto admitted, they are carrying a lot of drag. Nothing official, but it is strange to see only the works Mercedes in top 10. Ferrari seem to have the best PU for now.shamyakovic wrote:I don't know from where u r getting this.silver wrote: ↑19 Mar 2022, 18:26So the PU is down on power, chassis is not in a happy place and just now Toto admitted, they are carrying a lot of drag. Mclaren and williams were in similar positions over the last 8 yeats, even when Mercedes had by far the best engine. That doesn't prove anythinglh13 wrote: ↑19 Mar 2022, 18:34Nothing official, but it is strange to see only the works Mercedes in top 10. I think its more than just the Mercedes team struggles even the other Merc engined cars are off the pace a little. Maybe they aren't just curious. Outside the factory team Norris is the next best in 13th.shamyakovic wrote: ↑19 Mar 2022, 18:21I didn't see any issues with top speed.. they lost all their time in sector 2..and they are on par with Ferrari in s1 and s3
Ah good point, I didn't notice that they went slower in Q3. But all weekend they've been far off, and when it came to decision time, they looked far off again. Also, I'm pretty sure Max should have been on pole. He has the fastest car, so the gap is even bigger. Merc right now is an upper midfield car. I expect the Redbull and Ferraris to disappear in the distance tomorrow.shamyakovic wrote: ↑19 Mar 2022, 18:30They were 3 tenths slower than their q2 time, so its probably 3 to 3.5 tenths. they went out with old tyres and that would have messed up their further runs.Hammerfist wrote: ↑19 Mar 2022, 18:270.7sec is a large gap to find. That proves nothing really.Watto wrote: ↑19 Mar 2022, 18:39I think its more than just the Mercedes team struggles even the other Merc engined cars are off the pace a little. It doesn't prove anything thing, but it is also not possible that McLaren, Aston and Williams forgot how to make a car capable of Q3 while Haas and Alfa suddenly learnt how to do that exactly.shamyakovic wrote:That proves nothing really.Watto wrote: ↑19 Mar 2022, 18:39I think its more than just the Mercedes team struggles even the other Merc engined cars are off the pace a little. 'It has been a bit of a nightmare to drive'
Seven-time world champion Lewis Hamilton, who starts down in fifth, speaking to Sky Sports F1, says: "I'm not saying I'm relieved, in general I'm really happy with the day compared to where we've been in the last two weeks.
"It has been a bit of a nightmare to drive, but we kept working and I'm proud of everyone.
"The guys ahead of us are in another league. In general I'm happy where we are, it's not the front row but we will make improvements as well as we can.
"These guys (Red Bull and Ferrari) will be going ahead, we are not in the fight with them, my battle is with the guys behind us. Their performance was quite a bit ahead of us."
