Renault R31

A place to discuss the characteristics of the cars in Formula One, both current as well as historical. Laptimes, driver worshipping and team chatter do not belong here.

The green boxes are cameras I believe

The thing in your second picture is likely to be a tire temperature sensor.

R31 is quicker then r30 in comparation laps from testing Barcelona 2010-2011.

2010: day one Barcelona: 8. Vitaly Petrov Renault 1m 24.173s
day two Barcelona: 9. Robert Kubica Renault 1m 24.912s
day three Barcelona: 6. Vitaly Petrov Renault 1m 22.523s
day four Barcelona: 10. Robert Kubica Renault 1m 23.175s
that means no double deck diffuser, new tyres....

you now what i mean car with single deck diffuser is better then with double  new slower tyers. this car (R31) is machine 8)

Renault tested new floor and rear wing today, Heidfeld informed that it was working well. Any pictures?

You can't compare with Barcelona 2010 where Renault did nt a single short run or a qualifying simulation...
But Petrov said the R31 has more downforce than the R30 and is easier to drive.

I think it's pretty interesting that with the Pirelli tires and the single diffuser, the car posts at least comparable lap times.

Hamilton was quoted saying that the new tyres made the car painfully slow and lost five seconds a lap compared to the previous tyres. The lap times seem to show otherwise...

its testing you cant compare their lap times because there is to many variables

We're talking about a five second difference here, not a tenth. Even with different track conditions, I'm just talking about a ballpark. It just seems clear that F1 did not just become "painfully slow" as Hamilton said.

i wasn't referring to track condition, i was referring to the teams testing schedules, fuel loads tyres etc. you cant compare TESTING times because so much changes.
