Mark webber. Im sure he told Nando that Seb was favored.alexx_88 wrote: ↑24 Aug 2018, 13:03
This makes less and less sense...
Ok, I can understand rejecting them in 2007 because they were a fizzy drinks company and maybe 2009 because he had the Ferrari deal, but 2011 makes 0 sense. It was in the middle of a set of regulations that Red Bull was obviously dominating, why not go there and beat Vettel in front of the whole world?
I genuinely don't think money is what Alonso is after. He's (as far as I know) the only top paid driver that doesn't live in a tax heaven, but chose to pay his taxes in Spain. Imo he sees money as a recognition of his value, so he'd definitely have a problem if he was paid less than his teammate, but not with the actual amount, presuming there are other advantages.Pany wrote: ↑24 Aug 2018, 13:13because Redbull offers little money I presume. I guess they offered between 12 to 15 M€, but alonso got 30 or more from Ferrari. The same thing has now happened to Ricciardo. Is in their philosophy: First the team always; Drivers come and go and prefer new ones rather very expensive champions. From Alonsoside, I understand an offer of let's say 12 M€ could be underestimate for him, getting more than double from MCLaren.
Agreed. But Web and Alo were pretty close if I remember correctly. Im sure Mark bitched quite a bit about his "computer" team mate at the poker table.
In the F1 podcast, Mark said that his friendship with Fernando was blown out of proportion by the media. They were friends only by F1 standards, where everyone hates each other, but they didn't really meet outside of GPs, nor were they that close.
Hard to say, but I do know he extended his original Ferrari deal in 2011, so maybe he didn't have an exit clausealexx_88 wrote: ↑24 Aug 2018, 13:03

Kubica was heading to Ferrari in 2012, which was already set before the 2011 season even started. It was even before his accident. If Fernando was approached by RB, then probably RB knew about Kubica heading to Ferrari as well. It could well just be that Kubica was approached by RB as well, but went to Ferrari instead. So RB knew there's an opportunity to lure away Fernando.Ground Effect wrote: ↑24 Aug 2018, 14:02Hard to say, but I do know he extended his original Ferrari deal in 2011, so maybe he didn't have an exit clausealexx_88 wrote: ↑24 Aug 2018, 13:03
