I haven't done a deep dive in the technical regs, but is ALS, like i said on WRC, legal, now that the MGU-H is removed? Using explosions in the exhaust to keep the turbo spooled.

It seems the new powertrain prefers shorter gears to recharge the batteries quickly. At the same time, it looks to me like the AM gearbox has a longer gear ratio, or something's wrong with the weight, suspension and/or power distribution: ALO struggled in some corners yesterday. The car also seems to sit quite high at the rear, doesn't it?. I imagine AN is making experiments with the rake.

The good news is that we have a lot of room for improvement. Right now, we're doing terribly

"We are clearly behind," de la Rosa said. "And as Lance said, we are four, three or five [seconds].

"We are clearly behind and when you are losing or you're missing that amount of time, it's clearly the overall package.

I'd personally prefer him not to race this season, going to be too difficult to watch.

Unburned fuel i guess.
It may be wrong, but thought the burning of fuel outside combustion chamber strategy was prohibited in this reg set.

There's always some paths to this, like injecting and not firing cylinders sporadically, that to push unburnt fuel out into exhaust and turbine etc.

Thought that regeneration strategy has first call on any off throttle torque potential though. They can sound quite staccato on overrun though.

No need to burn it outside cc, just burn late enough for more heat and gas energy at the exhaust.

Exactly, just let the valves open a bit more and job done.

But I've asked myself several times why Aston Martin didn't let Honda do the gearbox. Does anyone know the answer? Because consider that all engine manufacturing teams make the gearbox together with the engine. Few teams do separate gearboxes and engines, I'm thinking of McLaren but it's a customer obviously and maybe Cadillac. Red Bull also did the gearbox I presume when they were with Honda and they also had some problems.
