P6/P7 to start tomorrow.

Perez should pass them on pace alone. Other than that, they just need to finish the race and hope McLaren doesn’t win.

Hopefully Carlos’s car is given a good inspection tomorrow. Would hate for him to have the same issues as last week.
Actually it will be P5/P6. Bottas starting from the pit.

Pit-stop strategies and tyre management will be crucial tomorrow. Passing doesn’t look as east as first thought; DRS, especially with a DRS train and those tiny wings, isn’t as advantageous as other circuits.
Ah that’s right. My bad.

So Leclerc had to change engines, but they are using engine 1. With #2 being done at monaco, and the #3 here, that leaves them with only 1 available, used engine. They will need to go to #4 at the next race… but likely not the upgraded one.

Also, was he complaining about not feeling well?
Who told that PU number 3 is done and not reparable? Any confirmation?

Sigh…seemed like that safety car was going to work out perfectly but no cigar 🙁 feels like a bit more horsepower would have made a big difference today.

P4 and P6 is probably far beyond what the team was expecting, however I also don’t think they expected a McLaren 1-2.

And although it doesn’t look great considering where the competition finished, this is still much better than last year’s double DNF.

It was a good effort considering their power disadvantage to the Mercedes/Honda cars. Stayed out of trouble and kept things clean. Both Sainz and Leclerc showed great pace post-restart.

Will be interesting to be where they take the engine penalty.

Ahh, good to see it was repaired. I thought it was a gonner.

Binotto: "Today you could see the 20hp difference compared to the others. We know it exists, but it should not make us lose morale because we are working on it for next season."

If the difference are 20 hp only, we probably will see a much more competitive Ferrari after bringing the upgraded PU with rumored 15 hp increase.
I’m asking myself how much more of a hp difference there is in qualifying setting.

If +15hp is coming imminently, why would Binotto talk about morale hits and 2022 normalization?

I like how Binotto talks in detail. Especially when it comes to engines he is very descriptive and doesn't try and hide everything like everyone else in the paddock. That horsepower quote; you'd be hard pressed to find anyone else in the paddock who would actually put a hp figure on the gap

I read where he talks about the 2022 engine and he actually describes what's going to change

"Over the next few years, power unit development will be frozen and this has led us to make some bold choices as well. It will represent the best product we have been able to develop. We have changed the mechanics of the engine, the turbo combustion and the hybrid part. We anticipate the evolution through the latest 2021 specification. It is a project significantly revised on all fronts"

15hp is most likely not going to make them competitive with Mercedes/Red Bull.

Alpha tauri were nowhere and suddenly that +15 hp in France sent them in the top 5s
Tho yes, they'll probably beat only Sergio perez in the top2s

Unable to provide further source details, but a friend who is a Ferrari employee has said that they will be parting ways with Phillip Morris with Amazon likely to be the replacement sponsor.

I thought I read about this a few weeks ago. The Phillip Morris sponsorship is through the Mission Winnow Campaign. Ferrari have been minimizing those logos on their cars, and I've seen more and more of the AWS logos on it. It will be interesting to see how this evolves.

15? Where did that come from? It was 10 last time I heard. Funny how a guess becomes the truth if enough people believe it

Truth is, it’s an ERS upgrade, so unlikely to be any actual HP increase in reality, just able to deploy longer
