probably end up with too much standing water and a no go race.
Or another two lap CLASSIC. Get on pole for free points lads!
Let’s hope so! It was the most exciting GP for a long while. The way they just pushed the cars up to 100-150 kph straights or so, was just incredible to watch!

People talking about a three stopper.... I always thought this track was very smooth and therefore almost certainly a one stopper. Didn't Rosberg stop for mediums a few years back on lap one and then easily completed the race?

P.s. I just saw that that happened 2014...time flies....

What do you use to make these calculations? I see them posted regularly but no idea how much credence I should give them.
I usually get it right, and that's for me to know, trade secret n all.
Do you use some simulation software? rFactor Pro? Is it historical data of the compound vs other races that it has been used at?

You don't have to say exactly how it's done, but at least give me an idea.

Otherwise I could also claim the same and then just say that "I usually get it right".

Edit: After a quick search through you tyre related posts, it seems you were wrong about Zandvoort, Silverstone & Austria, so please forgive me if I ask for some evidence to back up your claims. At that point I stopped looking through the race threads but I'm sure I could find more examples like that.
If there was 1 track on the calendar I'd never pick for a 3-stop, it would be this one.

Even if the tyres were made of Mozzarella, most would 2-stop.

Happy to be wrong, but I just don't see 3-stops relative to past data.

I think he stopped for hards, not mediums, but yes, he easily completed the race (though Mercs were arguably in their most dominant form that year) at least in terms of engine power.

Also for realz, it's been too long.

Rain could be good. The Spa debacle was such bad publicity for F1 I expect they can't repeat their idiocy here; if it rains they have an opportunity to rehabilitate their reputation.

Well there's no way that even F1 can try to run the cars behind the safety car if the pits are flooded like that over the weekend. If it's like that on Friday I can see the event being abandoned.

Or at least postponed and maybe dropped into a gap later in the season. (Although not really knowing the climate in Sochi, how late can they feasibly leave it before the weather is too bad?) That's an incredible visual, isn't it! I really don't see how they can hold a race weekend like that.

If race does not happen, Max takes the penalty for engine, does back of grid penalty get carried over for the race after?

Can they take 2 engine penalties these days to create a pool?

That's the support pits, not the pits pits. Track might be okay. The reason spray at Spa is so bad is the trees don't allow it to disperse. Could be okay in the concrete car park of Sochi.
