Norris has been let down there. He needed an old head telling him to pit.
Didn’t you hear him shouting “No!” like a little kid after having been told to pit for Inters?
He is a little kid. All the other youngsters who are older than him get cut loads of slack for huge outbursts of swearing in far less pressurised situations.

I think he can be 100% forgiven.

No he wasn’t without the rain he was going to finish 7th. :wtf:
Did he just come in a lap earlier than everyone else? He was in the fortunate position of having absolutely nothing to lose, along with Bottas.

Yes he did get incredibly lucky but they made a smart call as a team.
Without the weather he finishes 7th. The rain was lucky for him.
Oh I’m not doubting that at all. Mad luck- all weekend actually. But they pitted on the correct lap and did do a good job of dealing with the circumstances.

we don't know how old that message was, might have been 1-2 laps before it was played and at that time it was 50/50, the whole situation was very much a casino, had he committed to pits it could easily have been Lewis staying out and rain going away - thus throwing the win away

in fact, the swap to inters made few get very lucky, look at Bottas, from like 15th to 5th with no effort from him basically... and Verstappen, from "hopeless" 7th to 2nd

Norris fault 100%
Childish petulance. but you live and you learn. He had 3 chances and all times he said no.

Great race by lewis. good overtakes when it mattered. Experience counts!

Poor race by Bottas. Lucky for Verstappen who coule not overtake Alonso and got overtaken by Alonso too. Alonso was so great at holding off Max on a track like this; for more than ten laps too.
But lucky of them to pit at the right time to get max into P2. He was going nowhere.
For Sure!!

Such mad luck has gained Verstappen whole 4 points!!!! Because if it doesn't rain Hamilton finishes P2 instead of P1. Meanwhile hamilton throws away 35 point swing advantage in Baku.

Every point is crucial. It can’t be downplayed.

Whether he can be forgiven or not is a totally different story and not what I was referring to. Restomaniac suggested that Norris has been let down, which simply isn’t true.

What a strange stop from Mercedes. Surely they mirror what Norris does.
That would have worked out very, very well for Red Bull! Sadly, that was not to be, but only 7 points lost is not too bad as Verstappen himself said.

Verstappen’s never lucky though. 🤷‍♂️
It would have been more lucky if Mercedes followed Hamilton's request to stay on slicks. ;)

That would have been quite amusing indeed, but nevertheless a solid victory from Hamilton.

That was my point. We shouldn’t ever be hearing HaMiLtOn Is LuCkY again but you know we will.

They will just mentally forget this…and Spa and others.

Fair. He wasn’t let down, but I think to pick on him for an excitable response under the circumstances isn’t so fair. We see all the drivers getting snappy with their engineers on the radio all the time.

Gutted for Norris. I guess he should have listened to team but he will learn from it. I guess adrenaline of leading the race got him. Real race winner is verstappen , we could feel in lewis voice in post race interview. He mentioned verstappen p2 2 times. Bit angry with alipne, alonso had chance to be on podium if he would have gone for inters 1 lap earlier, same for perez he could have won race. Only unworthy candidate among top 10 is bottas, he did not do 1% effort to deserve this luck.

It looked to be drying at the time. You choose the tyres for the condition of the track. :)
