No even after Turkey they have a good car under them to challenge everywhere.
Mexico and Brasil could suit the RB16B well.
And with the engine situation LH wont be able to fully capitalize on the higher speed tracks.
The constructors is their issur. Perez needs to wake up.
I really don’t think the WCC has ever been their goal for the season. All the eggs have been in the WDC basket for Verstappen.

And still they let Perez race, even when after the pitstop he came out right on top of Verstappen, costing Max place to Alonso as well. Meanwhile Bottas must have really needed that 5th engine, or was just offered up to block Max.

There’s no way they’d have had Perez finish the race ahead of Verstappen. They’d likely have pitted him to try and counter Hamilton pitting to get fastest lap. I believe Hamilton had a nice window to do so before the rain started. They obviously would have gone for it if it became clear Norris had a bit too much pace. .

Could be, but we will never know. As it stands now it costed Max an extra place to Alonso which even if Perez would have dropped back would still have been a fact of life. Luckily it started to rain and even despite the skinny wing that allowed Max and RBR to come back to second.

I dearly hope so. But should Max get a seizable gap there are always options on the table.

I think… Alonso would be perfect number two

Not in his prime speed, but manages tyres and race with much intelligence.

Put him on the RB he will be behind Max in qualy but will do podium at each races and some wins

It's not impossible, but unfortunately there's no guarantee Max will be granted safe passage. He's a marked man.

7 wins in a row? There's only 6 races left. I wish but Mercedes seem to unlock more and more engine power with every round, I think they'll be difficult to beat everywhere and Verstappen needs Perez for strategy and to try and finish ahead of Hamilton

I greatly disagree. It does NOT earn money for the team, WCC does.

I agree, the WCC comes first, and the WDC is a secondary goal. The only time a team focuses on the WDC is when they think the WCC is out of reach for one reason or another.

I th8nk in redbull's case, the wdc could be more important for their marketing, especially in Holland.

on the contrary if wdc is out of reach wcc becomes important. wdc brings everything and means you are in first 3 at wcc.
other benefits of wdc are more important than money comes from only F1.

I am assuming that he thinks Qatar will be the TBA race.

Mercedes engine power does worry me. They are mighty fast and they seem to get faster and faster as the season has progressed. That straight line speed Red Bull enjoyed in France feels like an eternity ago now.
