Although, I think for it to happen, someone inside the fia must leak it. The rules are that any reliability upgrade the teams are bringing needs approval by all other teams but Ferrari's technically bringing a 20 -> 21 upgrade. So chances should be pretty low.

Wasn’t it Arrivabene who was furious at the FiA when they sat down with Merc engineers, talking about the Ferrari PU, some years ago at the German GP without Ferrari being invited …….?

No, what I am saying is, what Ferrari is bringing now is essentially what others brought at beginning of the year. Same will happen next year, everyone is already locked in PU design that will be debuted in Feb, while Ferrari is likely not going to debut final ERS component until end of 2022.

This sort of simplification is meaningless. What they would had is surely inferior to what they have now. Maybe it suited their development plans to delay, and only focused on ICE.
Next year they may, or may not do the same. As wall as the others. Depending on how mature what they have, and how confident are they in their ERS

The 2021 Ferrari compared to the 2020 Ferrari and Haas.

Looks like Ferrari took inspiration from the last Merc cars* and changed the exhaust pipes to make them merge behind the engine, inside the bellhousing. It's not clear if Ferrari made the gearbox casing hole bigger or removed 2 of the six studs to make this possible. Do you have a pic of their 2020 gearbox?
*but Ferrari was the first to do this, just in 2016

Motorsport.it says that the change was not in the ICE, but in the ERS with new "Solid State" batteries instead of the old lithium-ions.
Very important is that the new system works at 800 Volts instead of the previous 400.
All this allows less time for recharging, less weight and less cooling needs for the ERS system, while the gain in power of the PU is only around 10-15 HP, but not relevant at this stage as next year also the ICE will be new.
It seems that Mercedes has this system since the beginning of the hybrid era...

The second picture is of last year car.
Exhaust manifold has already changed since the beginning of this season.
Motorsport.it says that the changes in the new PU are in the ERS and not in the ICE, as I explain in the previous post.
