Next World is for the Electrical Energy. All countries are searching for alternate way Gasoline they are moving for electric vehicles or thou vehicles who have both of theses features. Heat Energy can be converted into electrical energy for example production of Electricity from COAL. :D :D :D

This is still on experimentation stage so still quite far from becoming real, but even so it´s great news

inertial confinement using lasers has laser efficiency of c.1%
so an apparent 70% 'response' is arguably 0.7% in efficiency terms

also there's ....
https://world-nuclear-news.org/Articles ... uilt-in-UK
https://world-nuclear-news.org/Articles ... sion-proto

(Walter Marshall told the UK over 60 years ago 'in 60 years fusion electricity will too cheap to meter')

btw
as I posted somewhere else the UK is now making c.83m turbine blades
and has agreed investment to extend to 100+m blade manufacturing capability and 'in-house' turbine tower capability
(and investment for an additional large-scale hydrogen domestic heating trial)

I am a big fan of fusion, and think it is 'the saviour of humankind'. However, since I watched this vid (I always watch her vids they are good) I have had a creeping feeling it is not a near future prospect.

There is a Joke (a truism) that Fusion is always 30 years away. https://www.discovermagazine.com/techno ... years-away

I think the quote is "Fusion energy is only 30 years away, and always will be"

Haha awesome! Face palm I really tried googling to work out what the original phrase was and failed. You have a better memory than me sir!

Shame I can't remember the important things tho
Looks good from the ignition facility.

Re: Energy distribution (and electricity generation)

this week (in the UK) it's all happening ....

gas (ie for home heating) companies are failing as their buying price became ten times their contracted selling price
in part as renewable electricity availability has fallen with little wind or sun (so demanding more gas for generation)
can't people understand that more renewables means more fossil-fuelled generation due to intermittency ?
can't people understand that 71 million people need more electricity than the 66 million that were planned for ?

a 1% shortfall in delivery of car fuel (due to easing of overseas vacations eg taken by tanker drivers) caused ....
an ongoing collapse in car fuel availability due to rumour-driven panic buying by car drivers
there's 6 million EU citizens with permanent UK residential rights - but we don't know how many have truck licences ?

a big onshore oil/gas find has been denied development permission (by the usual actions of the usual suspects)

and ....
our Prime Minister Johnson (ahead of COP 26) at the UN can't get any interest from the big-polluter countries ....
only from Bangladesh (though contrary to the lying whiners it won't have a problem if sea levels rise - it will rise too)

someone wants to develop a solar farm (or do they mean a 'solar farm' ?) near me

we're told capital costs of renewables will soon be charged to gas bills - so removed from electricity bills
presumably to incentivise replacement of gas heating by air-source heat pumps
(but this is sense only if we rebuild our houses insulationwise ?)

There is no way UK, and most other countries are going to get anywhere close to targets without nuclear generation. We should have bitten the bullet and got on with it 20 years ago, if not 40

How is that? If renewables didn´t exist, that increase in fossil fueled energy wouldn´t be intermitent, but permanent.

Nuclear (emissions free) and hydro (100% renewable) also exist btw

the new UK domestic 'energy price cap' is decided - a 54% increase to £1971 (further increases are expected soon)
in response public money (part repayable over 5 years) is to be given to the public

crude oil is now close to $100
'experts' say there's a shortage partly as oil/gas investment has plummeted because of government green preaching

American LNG enroute via Panama to Asia was/is resold mid-Pacific - reversing course via Panama thence to the UK
the UK having closed its large (North sea) gas storage facility to save maintenance costs

a Select Committee says there's no actual policy (to electrify heating) - though that is our 'stated' policy
the committee has come out against hydrogen (fuelling of gas heating)
another SC says road use must be taxed as fuel tax take has fallen

further rail electrification is our 'stated' policy
the entire SE has since the 1920s a 3rd rail 750 V DC system
Network Rail says the line losses are 28% (21% without trains and c.50% at times - feeder stations every 1-2 miles)
replacement with eg an overhead 25 kV AC system isn't yet agreed
(line losses c. 4% and fewer feeder stations - and some onboard losses of course)
the nearest to agreement is the extension of the national 'spine' to eg Southampton

the line losses on modern tramways and light rail are very high - as they are c. 750 V DC systems
on most electrified systems substantial regeneration is elusive
electric rail is (or was before renewable electricity) at least as carbon-polluting as diesel rail
to avoid renewal costs the USA Canada and Australia have de-electrified some mileage in recent years
partly because (like socialism) it's inconvenient unless your neighbours have the same system

Non hydro renewables supply 9% of the world's energy, of that 9% half is nuclear. You can't build much more hydro all the good sites are gone. So everything renewable you see, you need 10 times as much of. Most of Spain will need to be covered in solar panels to power the gloomy north of Europe in winter. So you better get building lots of nukes otherwise you will have to build unimaginably vast piles of batteries.

Except we don´t need to cover any country with solar panels to feed some other, there are more energy sources like wind wich works at night, and hydro, and nuclear, and that´s only talking about emissions free sources

Not sure about what inconveniece they were talking about to de-electrify a train sincerely. As I have said many times in this thread, even if any electric vehicle pollutes the same as an ICE, any EV will pollute a bit less each year (due to increasing percentage of renewables on every country), while ICE always pollute a bit more each year because of wear, cinder, play on any moving part, etc. wich makes ICEs less efficient each year.

Anycase transport is under 20% of the pollution. Heating is more than double of that. Don´t let politicians to fool us anymore
