Think we need the France situation in tomorrow’s race
Daniel lost out because of a drying track and track evolution. He did his last flying lap one lap earlier than everyone else. This list him around 1.5 seconds compared to those who started their lap one lap later. You saw when Daniel finished his quali lap he pulled over on the main straight to let Lando, who was just starting his lap, past.Darth-Piekus wrote:I don't think there should be any excuses from losing to a Haas a car that is 2 seconds slower.
I have written off Daniel for this year as he can't handle this car but I am hoping that Daniel will handle next years car and make us all eat our words. We need the good Ricciardo.
Why is Daniel struggling though all year? Sainz got well with Ferrari and Fernando is a god among men I would say for perfecting his Renault drive.
Generally, if your front end is weaker, it's cause you can't generate as much front downforce. So I'd be surprised to hear that they're running more DF. I Guess there could be others issues??? Red bull are constantly having to drop rear DF to get balance cause they can't get the front to bite either.MrGapes wrote: ↑10 Oct 2021, 04:14we do seem to be running more downforce than the other cars, I suspect this is due to the team having to apply more front end due to the obvious front limitations of the car and to compensate for that had to add more rear end. Hopefully this helps us tomorrow with tyre management and Daniel and Lando are able to pull a good long first stint with good pace, and then come at them at the end. Track will likely be green come the race because it just rained for a few hours, so lets hope that hurts Ferrari especially with there low downforce config and graining issues hurt them. This is exactly the France situation.
Tend to agree. RIC is all about braking late and into the corner (trail braking) something the RB did well. If you remember Renault eventually could do this as it developed the car around RIC. In simple terms I believe the Macca needs to have its braking done predominantly before the corner, and yes this might be to generate more downforce with the dipped nose.diffuser wrote: ↑10 Oct 2021, 06:23Generally, if your front end is weaker, it's cause you can't generate as much front downforce. I remember in 2018 when they had placed the side pods too close to the front tires and the wake off the front tires was losing them rear DF in corners. That isn't the issue here. Something is going on there and is related to Ricciardo's lack of performance. Norris has found a way around it on some tracks by adjusting his driving style. He brakes later and harder to get the nose to dip more. Then uses the extra DF generated from the nose being closer to ground to get the nose pointed where he wants it to go. That likely can't be maintained in a long corner.
Alpine seem to be the reverse of McLaren, in that their weakness is the rear of the car. Alpine have also been aided by the new rear tires. I remember reading Alonso say that they found that on tracks that they need more brake cooling, the larger front brake ducts cause a loss of rear DF.
Are you confirming that it’s rained after qualifying? Saturday evening or Sunday morning?MrGapes wrote: ↑10 Oct 2021, 04:14we do seem to be running more downforce than the other cars, I suspect this is due to the team having to apply more front end due to the obvious front limitations of the car and to compensate for that had to add more rear end. Probably because as sp8472 said above it's not because Daniels performance was bad, he lost out on track evolution.mwillems wrote: ↑10 Oct 2021, 09:14How on earth did I get negatively rated for that?? With a remark of "Not true"?
What's not true about the fact the weekend hasn't finished and we can get something tomorrow?
Or that Danials final run in Q2 was much slower than Landos earlier run in Q2 on a more rubbered in track than Landos earlier run?
Even Button and Chandok put this down to his struggles in the corners.
An upset fanboi/girl strikes again in here. It's getting worse in this Forum.
IIRC from the detailed explanations already given several times, this isn't the case. The opposite in fact. Ricciardo traditionally brakes earlier and uses more throttle in the corner. The McLaren requires later braking into the corner to keep the nose down.univex wrote: ↑10 Oct 2021, 08:01Tend to agree. I believe it rained very early Sunday morning, so most of the rubber probably got washed out, plus no support races to relay that rubber. So will be less grip at the start, although this resurface track seems crazy compared to last year, the grip seems endless, I also think Ferrari already got on top of there front graining issues so idk we will seeCjC wrote: ↑10 Oct 2021, 09:59Are you confirming that it’s rained after qualifying? Leclerc was buoyant stating he was happy that he has a low downforce set up as it’ll be warmer come race day....?
