A damp track is going to make it difficult for Leclerc at least in the first phase of the race as they optimized the setup for dry conditions.

Yeah, gutted for Charles, would have been good to see him at the front with half a chance.

Good news potentially for Hamilton then, as I think he’s running a bit more. However he’s got to get through the first lap in the damp with no incidents first.

Here's one in much higher quality, no commentary and telemetry
I think Lewis had a tiny lift in T8 which was not shown in app telemetry.
That´s reasonable because the current cars are struggling to reach 5Gs on T8 while, in 2010, Red Bull was doing it with sustained 5.5G. I guess there is enough tyre scrubbing, given their huge width, to make them slower even going flat out. I agree with Juzh, it´s flat but not as quick as the RB6, nevertheless

Then, again, we have to remember that the current generation of cars could not take Campsa and Copse flat before the repavements while the 2010 could easily do so.

I already saw people arguing on your youtube videos that the current cars are the fastest, in high speed corners, because of their speed on Pouhon, but one has to remember that DRS did not exist before 2011, so the previous cars had to run ultra low drag aero configurations....

Pole position statistics should count ones like Lewis got today. He ended qualifying in 1st place, that's pole to me.
Bottas made the fastest time on Portugal 2020 but people pretended it didn´t happen in order to hype Hamilton´s "pole".

The fastest time of QLF not being pole is not something unusual on F1. Actually, on 2006, all of the QLF fastest laps were done on Q2

I think Hamilton has one of the highest, if not the highest downforce setup of them all today.

But P11 has lost wing written all over it.

I doubt Hamilton will have any problems starting P11. He is not stupid and usually luck is on his side.

Max to win. Bottas won't present a problem for him and I expect Max to be P1 by the start of lap 2. Hamilton has real possibilities of being taken out in the first lap.

So with Le Clerc saying to the media yesterday post quali that he does have a lower downforce set up, is that a definite problem on the inters OR has this been a deliberate ploy because of the insane track grip?

Russell just saying to Sky that he thinks the inters may not last as a result of that grip. Interesting to see how it plays out.

Obviously when you truncate 5 km distance down to 10 cm all you're gonna get is almost an on/off graph.
Exactly. As I said, the resolution along the x-axis is rather poor. As a driver lifts, it would probably be more than just a few percent but it might be very short and disappear completely in the sampletime. In fact, the graph is so distorded that is it hard to tell what you see. At all...
Why are you selectively omitting the part of my post where I specifically disprove this theory?

Yep, this a the most likely scenario. At least the first part is pretty much definite, and the last part is highly likely.

The two Red Bull teams seriously precooling their cars. Presumably hoping to get more power on lap one.

Interestingly enough, you can see them, briefly, lifting on 2009 QLF, but Massa and Vettel remain above 275km/h almost the entire time(the 275 bar briefly flashes out during the cornering) and that is a bit more speed than the current cars going flat out(I guess that´s due to more tyre scrubbing nowadays)

Curiously, the 2009 Mclaren had so poor downforce that Hamilton was going way slower, almost like a GP2 car. And, by 2010, they gained so much downforce with the EBD that Kobayashi and Webber blast through flatout without any difficulty
