Mercedes has been allowed to chance the set-up under parc ferme

https://www.f1maximaal.nl/formule-1/mer ... ig-circuit

Cold and cloudy today, much different than before and Mercedes is allowed to change the set-up. I can’t believe it.
That article is garbage. It was done yesterday during fp3, not in parc ferme.
Yes, the article does say that, but I have since learned it was done on Saturday.
F1Maximaal is known as a very unreliable site. They didn't mention the important words "before the qualification".
Just to stirring up the pot.

One for the blocklist. They State “with permission by the FIA”. You don’t need that on Saturday.

This means they obviously turned it up in Q3. Because ICE maps are locked from Q1 onwards the only way of doing this is releasing more electrical energy and running the engine in a free load more for longer periods (open wastegates)

...
I thank you so much for your info and knowledge. But unfortunately I don`t follow you: had the ICE maps are locked from Q1 onwards how on earth could they change it in Q3?

As I said, the site is very unreliable.
The original article says:

A similar situation arose at rivals Red Bull Racing, where a cracked wing was spotted on Max Verstappen’s car.

With the permission of the FIA, the Milton Keynes outfit was able to strengthen parts on both of its cars ahead of Saturday’s qualifying session.

“So what we did is that the car was bottoming out quite heavy, and that breaks the car,” said Wolff. “So we took some mitigating steps to not break it, or massacre it that hard, in order to survive the race.
The FIA permission was for RBR, not for Mercedes.

I'd add that teams are never allowed to change the set-up of the car under parc ferme conditions. the only thing they are allowed to do is replace broken/damaged parts with identical parts.

It's listed very clear from the rules.

https://www.fia.com/sites/default/files ... -07-12.pdf
34.1
Each Competitor must provide the Technical Delegate with a suspension set-up sheet for both
of their cars before each of them leaves the pit lane for the first time during the qualifying
practice session.
34.8
A Competitor may not modify any part on the car or make changes to the set-up of the
suspension whilst the car is being held under parc fermé conditions. In the case of a breach of
this Article the relevant driver must: start the race from the pit lane and follow the procedures
laid out in Article 36.2.

Yes, it was.

There's no images of those reinforced parts though, right? Would be really interesting to see what they've done.

At the start, I could see easily a RB team strategy with VER cutting in a possible breakthrough to the inside of turn 1 and then HAM boxed in by PER at the outside of turn 1 ...

If that can be done, that's good. :)

The RBR looks great. Perez is right up there too. I think it’s just a matter of time.
