The fan heist. Pretty cool, a once in a lifetime opportunity for those guys.
It looks to be a rear limited track, I don't see why McLaren would struggle. Ferrari chassis didn't struggle anywhere, the PU just lacked power at power tracks. We'll see how much the Ferrari PU has increased since the last upgrade.
Ahh yes, onboard is a pain. There were a few races last year where Mercedes had a different color stripe for each driver on the Halo. I’m thinking all teams could incorporate this.michl420 wrote: ↑04 Nov 2021, 15:54I use the camera color too, but on onboards that is gone. A NOR or RIC on the HALO would be good.
Which would suggest Mclaren are braced for a difficult weekend pace wise if we use when the other teams have taken a grid penalty
Oh boy.Emag wrote: ↑03 Nov 2021, 23:14To be honest I am not sure. Because if Ferrari's low speed performance advantage is aero-dependent (unlikely), perhaps the lower air density can mitigate that advantage a bit and help swing the wind in McLaren's favor.
I like to go in pessimistically and say Ferrari will be better, so that if that turns out to be the case, I won't get disappointed. And if it doesn't, then even better because I like surprises.
Ferrari feel that the high altitude will actually favour them over Mclaren.Emag wrote: ↑03 Nov 2021, 23:14To be honest I am not sure. We will never knowDarth-Piekus wrote: ↑05 Nov 2021, 20:25Considering how the rest of the season might go I wanted to clarify some things regarding Mclaren and Ferrari. People are free to disagree with me but that is my honest opinion.
1)Ferrari used to be a championship winning car two years ago and their aerodynamics were on par with Red Bull and Mercedes. The only reason they did not manage to do anything in 2020 and until recently in 2021 was because of the engine mostly being down not to mention had lots of years of budget advantage against Mclaren and in my opinion their chassis was much better. In my opinion this year Mclaren has reached Ferrari, Red Bull and Mercedes instead of Ferrari coming closer to Mclaren.
2)Mclaren had restrictions due to rules regarding engines compared to Ferrari and the other teams. Due to the engine change they had two less tokens just for the development to accomodate the engine change while the rest could develop and use the tokens for upgrades.
3)Ferrari pretty much caused that engine problem by themselves after being caught doing illegal activities with that engine in 2019. They are lucky they didn't recieve the Spygate treatment but an agreement under the table to get off scot free. That is in regarding to Ferrari having a low engine last years and until recently.
So the question remains. How much better would Mclaren be if they developed and used the tokens for upgrades like the rest? How much faster would they reach the top teams if the budget cap was implemented earlier?
