Is Mclaren really screwed now that Ferrari brought the engine nearer the Mercedes engine? Is there anything we can do to turn the tables?

Wait, its just fp1. We could actually be 2 seconds away from Ferrari instead of 1 😁

Im not talking about FP1 that I know we have the engine turned down a lot. I'm talking generally for this season. From what I see the difference is not much so I am wondering if we can find a tenth or two to even that upgrade.

Its gonna be difficult. But there aren't that many races left so we just gotta wait and see I guess.

This race and the next seem to be speed races with lots of straights. If we can't beat them here I don't know where we can after that.

Ferrari stated at the last race that from now on they'd be running more detuned during the free practises. I hope that turned out to not be the case.

You know I wonder something. In Sochi Ferrari brought that engine for both drivers and still we beat them easily. Shouldn't USA and Mexico be like Sochi?

Only Charles got the engine in Sochi, Carlos got the engine in Turkey, not to mention the 1st race either had on it, it was not run (the new hybrid part) to its full potential. Charles pace in USA in the 2nd and 3rd stints was consistently like a tenth or two off Hamilton and Max, he only got gapped in the 1st stint.

What about Sochi? How was Charles pace compared to Lando who was first?

If you want a better picture compare Leclerc pace to max while both were getting to the top positions

We know McLaren will make a leap on power tomorrow like always but see does seem to be a lot of teams struggling to nail the setup (outside of RBR and Mercedes)

Lando was on clear air. How would his times compare to Leclerc when both were on clear air?

Considering how the rest of the season might go I wanted to clarify some things regarding Mclaren and Ferrari. People are free to disagree with me but that is my honest opinion.
1)Ferrari used to be a championship winning car two years ago and their aerodynamics were on par with Red Bull and Mercedes. The only reason they did not manage to do anything in 2020 and until recently in 2021 was because of the engine mostly being down not to mention had lots of years of budget advantage against Mclaren and in my opinion their chassis was much better. In my opinion this year Mclaren has reached Ferrari, Red Bull and Mercedes instead of Ferrari coming closer to Mclaren.
2)Mclaren had restrictions due to rules regarding engines compared to Ferrari and the other teams. Due to the engine change they had two less tokens just for the development to accomodate the engine change while the rest could develop and use the tokens for upgrades.
3)Ferrari pretty much caused that engine problem by themselves after being caught doing illegal activities with that engine in 2019. They are lucky they didn't recieve the Spygate treatment but an agreement under the table to get off scot free. That is in regarding to Ferrari having a low engine last years and until recently.

So the question remains. How much better would Mclaren be if they developed and used the tokens for upgrades like the rest? How much faster would they reach the top teams if the budget cap was implemented earlier?
Chill out dude. You're asking questions all the time that no one knows until the race or season is over. You're filling this part of the forum with mind numbing questions.
Finally, everyone knows that Red Bull is a joke and Max Verstappen is overrated.

I don't know if Ferrari followed through on this assertion, but they stated after the last race that they would be conservative in the Free practises to make the engines last.

I hope that it is not true and they are taking another engine each and running faster in FP, because if this is conservative... yikes!

They figured out a way to run the old PU with the new ERS so Sainz was running an old PU today.

All reports point to Ferrari running conservatively but I guess we'll find out tomorrow.
