If Ferrari have new engine performance to use tomorrow then Sainz obviously has some good time in his pocket.

Where were they in Baku FP1 and FP2 before they sprung that pole surprise?

Just seen a video regarding who might have the advantage till the end. It's a positive that the narrator thinks that the winner will be decided by a very small margin in the last race. However one thing that I didn't liked was the fact that Ferrari ended their updates earlier than Mclaren and might have an early start on 2022 focus. Anyone knows if that is the case and will it cost Mclaren next year?

Given how practical and sensible Andreas Seidl and James Key have been since they joined , I don’t think they would compromise 2022 new regs a single ounce and I wouldn’t worry about them losing anything with regards to planning and development for next year.

So to be fair they were in a much better ballpark than yesterday in Mexico City.

Guess it depends on just how much the engine bumps them forward and any set up changes.

We were quiet yesterday but almost too quiet- think we will improve a lot in FP3.

Leclerc
FP1: 2nd / FP2: 4th / FP3: 4th

Sainz
FP1: 3rd / FP2: 3rd / FP3: 5th

Definitely. Ferrari stopped bringing chassis/ aero updates before Mclaren.

Mexico definitely looks like it’s a weak circuit for Mclaren under the current regs- they were hopeless in 2019 and it’s not looking promising this weekend either

I think at best we’ll see one car in Q3🤦🏼‍♂️

How is that working? From what I see the circuit is full of straights and fast corners.

They were actually the best midfield car in 2019, so I don't know what you are on about.

They suffered a tire wear problem in the race and they dropped massively (kind of like Ferrari in France), but the car was fast.

Yea quali they were ok but when they fitted the hard tyre in the race they were useless.
I’m also basing my assumption on what Button said during practise yesterday, he said he was in the Mclaren garage for that 2019 race and they suffered with a few issues- even after coming off the back of some strong races that season- also bear in mind that the 2019 Mclaren was a better quali car than race car.

Also basing my assumption on this:
Even Lando said they struggled in 2019 as they are again this season- so that’s what I’m on about.

One trait Mclaren have had for 3 seasons now is an efficient car with less drag, it’s obviously hindering them in Mexico’s high altitude

Alright so Ferrari will get 3rd after this weekend. Now let's see if it is going to be possible to take it back.

funny that he still denied to practice slipstreaming Ricciardo yesterday, when the team asked him to. Must have been clear at that point already
