After watching the start again and again, my personal conclusion is bottas had a bad start and was.easily passed by lewis first, without slipstream. Then max took the stream and was quicker than bottas in taking external line, accellerating like hell. Bottas could do nothing

It obliviously doesn’t matter now because with the pace in the car it didn’t matter if the MCS were ahead or behind. But it is worth mentioning that it seemed Valterri was fighting Lewis more than max and thinking of himself mostly, which ended up contributing to his result today. He definitely should have moved to the right to help stream his teammate along but once Lewis got along side he should have retaken the racing line, instead he kept Lewis hugged more toward the inside which was unnecessary. He should’ve held the racing line and moved right back on it once it became clear him and Lewis were side by side and the scenario wasn’t appropriate anymore to help provide the slipstream.

Seeing how Merc just got overtaken by RB as fastest and best car on the grid, I feel RB have developed more than Merc did for the past year. It would be interesting to see how well developed the RB is next season. Could this be an opportunity they’ve focused on more than they’ve expected or will RB have a streak of a few seasons of dominance?

Must nearly be at the point where Max only needs p2's ?
Getting P1 in sprint race, and P1 and FL in the race p2 could then work till the end.

I agree, one of the reasons why I wouldn’t be surprised if Russel is at Brazil

All weekend the Mercedes struggled with braking late into corner one. It even cost several sets to try and find the limit in the FPs. The Mercedes rear hugging the ground gives high topspeed but perhaps grip on braking is the sacrifice? Could that be?

O my.... Bottas on softs overtaken again by Verstappen. What a terrible drive today for Bottas.
It was horrible tactics from the team that Bottas ended up behind Max for the FL but Bottas left his brain on his nightstand today.
Totally yes. Bottas checked out earlier in the season. He sometimes comes out to play during qualifying but that's about it. Today his side of the garage decided to check out early too it seems. #-o
Bottas is probably getting pretty fed up about the pitstops. It certainly didn't take 2 days this time but still, 11 sec...

How can that Gasly - Alonso situation in Turkey be penalised yet not even an investigation against Ricciardo. What a BS
Because Bottas was at fault. Braked way too early and turned in way too early.

Bottas could have squeezed max on the left side. Though this opens the inside, it doesnt matter because Lewis his teammate would be there.
Squeezing max can cause max to ease of the throttle and that would be enough to break his momemtun and eliminate that line he took into turn 1.
For Sure!!

RB have enjoyed a massive psychological advantage as a team in terms of relying on a team mate to be useful outside of car pace.

Checo was brought it, contracted as a number 2 and they brought it someone who could only be grateful to have a drive as opposed to not having one, so. Stursllt, eager to please to be retained. Easy to control. As opposed to Bottas who is in a team where there ie equal availability to dictate the race but never proven to be good enough and been delegated number 2 through meritocracy. He’s leaving the team and cannot be controlled.

I thought MCS would probably take constructors but I think both the titles are going to them, Checo has found a good performing level and unity with the car to support their campaign now, pleased for him.

Seems premature. This is a high-altitude track with lots of slow corners. It remains to be seen if Red Bull are also easily faster at Silverstone-style tracks with primarily fast corners. It also seems to depend on track temperature. :)

On average, the Red Bull has certainly been slightly ahead over the season, but I'm not sure at a Catalunya or Silverstone type track that the Red Bull is easily faster than the Mercedes.

On Sunday, absolutely.

Bottas is strong doing laps on an empty track but has no game when it comes to racing. The car dictates his racing performance more than other drivers.

Loved how Max ruined Bottas’ first FL attempt.
