Anyone crucifying Dan for that incident isn't a fan of true racing and going for those gaps. 50/50 racing incident as the stewards saw it as well. If he pulled it off it would have been one of the starts of the season. Bottas took that corner extremely tight compared to everyone else and obviously wasn't thinking about other cars coming through. Dan's lockup was well before the corner and the car was under control. Gotta ask why Bottas keeps getting in these sort of incidents when on the other hand it's rare for Ricciardo who is one of the best wheel to wheel racers out there. Again 50/50 racing incident.

Solid from Lando to bring home a point.

Still 4 races left but Ferrari have definitely improved alot and don't look weak anymore at any tracks so it's going to be tough for 3rd now

It looks like Lando's mind is still in Sochi. He hasn't been himself after that.

The sky is falling in, the sky is falling in.

Come on. Seriously, we always knew this was going to be a bad track. The Merc PU has always struggled here, compared to everywhere else and the thin air also negates any aero advantages the team has over other midfield runners.

Lando has a new PU now, compared to older units in the Ferraris. All it takes is a couple of DNF's from them and a good race from McLaren and we're right back in it. P3 will be tough, but it's still possible.

And if not, we gave it our best, fought fair and won a race!! The extra resource time next season will be an advantage as well.

Turned down the chance to meet Vettel at Silverstone in 2007. He was a test driver at the time and I didn't think it was worth queuing!! 🤦🏻‍♂️

I am completely befuddled on how this car can be 1s faster than another in qualifying but be just as fast as it on the race (referring to the Alpine here). It's completely pointless to make any sort of predictions with this car. It's honestly impossible to know how this thing will perform. We just have to go into a race weekend and hope they have pace. But for the last 4 grand prix, we have been absolute sh!t.

It seems crazy to me that this car is the same car that was as fast as Mercedes in Austria, and barely slower than Lewis in Russia.
I think that's more Alpine underperforming in qualifying than anything. Alonso totally botched Q1. Alfa and Aston were also fairly quick today as well and not very good on Saturday.

As for the cars' performance, I think its been pretty difficult to predict where any of the cars are going to be outside of blatantly obvious ones. I'd say its easier to pick out the cars' weaknesses and go from there. For McLaren, that's low-mid speed corners and long corners. Lando kind of hinted at that today post-race when Carlos was trying to figure out where McLaren might be strong again.

The McLaren is so good off the line that's why it's hard to take colliding with Bottas. Would have been another cracking start even better than Sochi. I'm amazed too how Dan was able to hold Bottas behind especially with car damage. He got tagged from behind later on lap 1 as well. Tom said he was lacking a fair chunk of downforce.

Wasn't following behind another car a problem for a lot of people. Look at Hamilton struggling to get close enough to Lando for blue flags to be shown!

I'm sorry but that Daniel didn't have a better race because the car was damaged in the hit with Bottas in the first corner, doesn't work as an excuse for me. It's not a criticism of Daniel, but it's something that can't cover up the team's bad weekend. Again.

Blastdoman have in mind that a lot of cars had problems following another car in front. Look at Bottas not able to pass Daniel with a much faster car. It's the nature of these cars which is gonna be corrected next year.

What I mean is that Daniel implied in his post-race interview that due to the hit with Bottas, he lost a lot of downforce and this is the reason for the poor race pace. This is what I mean by excuses. Neither Daniel, with no other driver in front of him, nor Lando had pace yesterday. Fighting to win in Sochi to have worse pace than Alpine or Alfa Romeo is something that the team has to analyze and find the key for next year.

You are wrong. I turned off the TV the moment our boys finished. I read later on Twitter the interviews of both drivers

So you expect him to be faster than those cars even with the damage?

You expect the impossible and state the obvious. Of course McLaren are going to be analysing every bit of data they can. Of course they're not happy with that performance.

Sometimes if feels like posters on here think the team is run by rank amateurs!!

How can I expect that if not even Lando was faster than Alonso or Raikkonen...

Ok but how can Bottas be explained not able to pass Ricciardo with damage even though his car was faster?
