Hi all,

Just wanted some quick suggestions from everyone especially those who love their F1 cars more than others! I have an interview coming up for an F1 team. It is a placement in Vehicle Dynamics for an year. Do you guys have any idea of what I should look into to prepare for the interview (I know some stuff about suspension and that is it!).

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

There's a good chance they'll ask you very little on technical details.

It is difficult to preview what they gonna ask for you, but based tat is Vehicle Dynamics. I reccomend Fundamentals of Vehicle Dynamics - Thomas D. Gillespie.

There are other like Milliken too.

One of those could be a good beginning.

How do you feel about over time?

If a train leaves London at 5Am GMT heading east at 45 mph and another train leaves NY at 9PST heading west at 900 mph what time do they meet?

Cheers Duda Soares for the recommendations. If they ask little technical details like Tom mentioned then I should be okay. Flynfrog, are we assuming that there are some kind of rail tracks accross the pacific? Otherwise it would be difficult!

I reckon good background on the team itself and various technical innovations they have done could also be a good thing. It shows you have specific interest in that team and appreciate their history... Other than that common sense will prevail over all imo...

Expect questions generally similar to these:

How do you deal with stress? (They mean both how you reaact to it and how you cope with it)

What traits do you think define "team player"?

Have you experienced projects with a very tight deadline? What was the result?

Do you prefer to lead or be led?

What was your greatest accomplishment/thing you are most proud of?

What is your greatest strength/weakness?

If you knew your manager was making a mistake, but he would not listen to you, what would you do?

How do you deal with agressive/abusive people?

What are your interests outside of F1?

In other words . . . can you deal with stress, long hours, demanding requirements, difficult people, responsibility without authority, etc, etc.

Do NOT mention white powders or photocopying blueprints. Read Dante's Inferno, first.
