Lewis needs to fly back to HQ and practice the new layout in the sim, I bet he will be mighty come Sunday!

Merc really needs to plan it out and make sure that engine has enough juice left and I guess activate their rear suspension solution and come out guns blazing in Q3. A merc 1-2 in quali is what we need!!

its a 100% a merc track. Merc has the advantage in basically every section in Sectors 1 and 2 with the exception of the chicane between the straights. In sectors 3 only Turn 12 and to a lesser extent 13 and 14 would play into RBR's hands. Although these corners have been widened to allow a faster entry and exit speed which again favors merc. Wouldn't be surprised to see Merc at least half a second ahead in quali.

This is mercs to lose unless Verstappen tries his continued dirty tactics in trying to take out Hamilton at every corner.

I'm a little worried about the Hamilton motor. Most of its components have an impressive mileage, as they were installed in the Spa. The Verstappen motor made its debut only in Sochi and it is much younger.

On the other hand you have a gearbox in VER's car that suffered a hit in the wall, and possibly hit from the crash.

Was the Brazil engine used in Saudi? It didn't seem like a rocket to me.

They must be confident that there's no mileage risks as they would've introduce new components in the pool in Turkey or Brazil I guess ?
They can put the components with the lowest mileage "juste for one race" around the new ICE if they are worried...

Who is the better driver?

Here are the current results.

Lewis Hamilton 86%

Max Verstappen 14%
This poll is a popularity contest, I'm sure results would be exact opposite on a Dutch equivalent site.

It's not any better or worse than the driver of the day garbage.

Exactly the same as the "Driver of the day" award. Max wins it because a bunch of orange hat wearers vote for him en masse.

The whole premise is ridiculous and shows the juvenile place that Liberty seem intent on taking F1.

I almost never expect Lewis to win driver of the day no matter how well he performed in a race. It's either a lot of people dislike him, or people just think it's normal when he performs great so they tend to see and vote other drivers more when they stand out.

Max winning Driver Of The Day last night was a joke though. I would have probably given that to Ocon or Lewis.

Unfortunately Dutch fans are cancer when it comes to max. They skew forums and poll results on basically every poll and forum

The Dutch press is partly to blame. Just today, with Helmut Marko’s communications, they only print his reaction (Hamilton should be penalised, Verstappen didn’t brake that hard) without, for instance, the details of the ruling of the stewards (he did brake and drove erratically). They are all taken in with these populism tactics from Horner/Marko. If Max does it: it’s brilliant. Oh, and Hamilton only complains and is a sore looser.

I hope that they have a better understanding of the issues that effected performance last year.

I think he knows more than he's letting on there. Everyone acknowledged Verstappen set up for qualifying rather than race pace in SA and Mercedes did the opposite- or went more balanced. Didn't they run the engines purposely detuned or run some tests for 2021 there last year, which ceded some speed?
