Mad that they didn’t even spend the tokens! Wonder if they will regret it should they not win both titles.
But with cost cap, they could develop a change in car which is only useful for 2022 car in 2021. Hence in effect getting extra indirect budget for 2022

Caught Tech Talk on F1TV. As it turns out...Mercedes didn't use any tokens on the W12.
The original plan was to spend them on the nose.
speculation is that they failed the crash testing. wonder if there is any insider info on what it wouldve looked like.....

Crash testing on noses fail all the time, it’s no biggy and to be expected

Maybe they already made their changes in 2020 for the new regs.

Think about it, if they spent no tokens in 2021, that means the 2020 car already had the suspension capable of dropping the rear significantly to stall the floor.

Like changing a load of parts for the last race of the 2020 season that meant you had no data to set it up, and really compromised your car for the final race. But the plus side was it was token free for 2021 as it was already raced in 2020.

Something along those lines?

Kind of like that. Different parts, had different homogenization dates in 2020. All the teams had to do was have the parts on the car before that date.

see page 122 or the technical regs.

all the inboard front and rear suspension components didn't get frozen till half way through last year.

This was already known, same suspension as ‘20. Pretty amazing if they win both championships on Sunday effectively using a gimped ‘20 car with barely any updates…

Horner said something interesting he said since new tests introduced the rival team did modifications and they seeing them "on-par" with them, so no protest this weekend. I wonder if this pegged merc back a bit with the rear suspension/wing efficiency which now limits the top speed a little.
There is no new test introduced, that's a lie Horner has been saying since qatar.

The new test was only seen in Qatar as a test for 2022... and everyone cleared it.

He is just gaslighting everything.

And please show data where merc has limited their top speed...again lies from Horner
I'm fully expecting Horner to move into politics. With the style of hyperbolic post-truth gas-lighting that he seems to enjoy, he'll go a long way!!
Favourite driver: Lando Norris
Favourite team: McLaren

Turned down the chance to meet Vettel at Silverstone in 2007. He was a test driver at the time and I didn't think it was worth queuing!! 🤦🏻‍♂️

Think Lewis is going to have a really tricky day tomorrow. RB were fastest in sector 3 in both quali and race pace, don't think he will be able to keep up and follow. If Max was on the mediums, this race would have already been over.

Disappointing qualifying for Mercedes, but it would not surprise me if Rb focused on one-lap pace and Merc focused on race pace like in Jeddah...

I don't think so, those soft tyres on full fuel are going to die fast unless Perez or Lando get in front of Lewis so Max doesn't have to push on them.

Yes, Redbull doing full on qualifying setup like in Jeddha. We might see similar battle tomorrow

Verstappen only got the edge because of an artificial advantage through the tow. If you think RBR can even try to keep up with Mercs, you should rewatch the last few races. Also, do not sleep on Bottas. He will join the front battle quickly.
