Sergio Perez was amazing i hope he can repeat that type of performance with equal cars next season and a better understanding of the RedBull. He should race everyone like its Hamilton. He did amazing and it was clean racing too. Thats how you drive.
Agreed. Perez did his best to help his team mate when asked. And he did it very well. He caused Lewis to lose 5 seconds in one lap to Max. That's some seriously good defensive driving.

Perez just did the job Bottas couldn't do all season long! Congrats to him! =D>

Bottas couldn't even defend from Verstapen at the start in Mexico which was such an easy task to do compared to what Perez had to do in Abu Dhabi! The only time Bottas defended his position hard this year was when Mercedes told him to move aside for Hamilton in Barcelona...

IMO that gearbox is no good. But if they want to race with it amd have Max complaining about gear change issues by the half way mark then so be it.
Max drives to unhindered i dont think he's going to nurse that gearbox at all.
But if lewis gets 26 points thats a nice little gift going into the final race.

The reality of pressure is cracking Max. He is starting to understand how it cannot be avoided. He crashed because he got greedy on the brakes and greedy on the throttle. While his rivals had no way of responding because they were already in the pits. It was not wise of him.
How prophetic.

Well done to the new champ!

Well deserved, he was by far the best driver this year, and the fastest driver in F1.

I have always been Schumacher fan, so I would have been glad and not surprised if Mick was this once a generation special talent but it turned out to be Verstappen's son...

There is still a family connection.

Congrats Max. I guess.

Still not sitting right in my gut but who wouldn't take advantage of the situation?

Can't blame Max. He was just driving his car like everyone else wondering what the hell was going on.

When the cars were told not to unlap Max was miffed but he didn't realise that would have made things more difficult.

Anyway, he did what he had to do. I can't say he drove better because it all evened out. Both guys made mistakes, Max more towards the end under the pressure. But I think on the balance of things he does deserve to be a champion. What's the point of having one champion in the fast car? If you get what I mean the sport sorta needs a balance.

I think what Max and Jos also learned this year is that there are other drivers on the grid that are extremely tough to beat.

When Lecerc and Lando get their chamshionship fighters they won't be as nice as Lewis. Fun times ahead.

Great analysis which shows just how insanely good Verstappen’s 2021 season actually was, even better than any of us suspected:

Nice one mate. Coming from a rather difficult start to F1 and consistently peaking from 2018, no wonder Max put together the best season of his racing career. So many doubters have been silenced, hopefully forever. His performance in Zandvoort stands as his best, under such immense pressure of expectations. It was heart breaking to see the lap of the year not coming to fruision in Saudi. Mercedes found strange level of performance since Turkey, making Max work harder than ever in the season. I had a sinking feeling seeing such anamalous sway of power where his Red Bull stood no chance when an attack came from Mercedes in these past GPs, coupled with some poor starts. But it was a sweet end for such a fabuolous season of performance. With the weight of expectations of a championship off, hope he should be a far bigger power in the equation of championship battles of future.

Nice though I disagree with Gasly and Tsunoda. Lance Stroll should have been lowest tbh, and Gasly in top six.
