There was no skipping. There was replacing. RB17 got replaced with a development of the RB16, the RB16B. The next car will thus be the RB18.
They do?

He's obviously been putting in work at the sim at Milton Keynes.
Many of us here will never forget 3mm-gate (or was it 2mm, or 5mm)?Hoffman900 wrote: ↑14 Jan 2022, 18:10It's one thing to say "I suspect they will", but the confidence...
Exactly, there will never be an rb17, the number is meant to represent the number of years RB have been in f1. There was no 17 as explained already, it was basically an rb16 chassis, so RB16B. Now back to the original tally.
Let’s look at the possible disappointment looming.west52keep64 wrote: ↑14 Jan 2022, 19:38Probably worth just clarifying this before it gets discussed, the image used on the RB18 launch page is appears to be the showcar:

It’s quite likely that most if not all the teams will reveal the fia show car through February as their launch car.
The launch could well be just livery.
Be prepared.
And even then most of the teams will run a half spec car, not really relevant for the first race.west52keep64 wrote: ↑15 Jan 2022, 14:11Yes, and I understand the first test is completely private, no journalists are allowed.
