Many people are saying that Lewis will stay in Mclaren because how of much Mclaren/Ron Dennis have invested in his career.

I think Lewis has already "paid back" what Mclaren have invested in him by winning for Mclaren their first championship in almost 10 years. So from now on, it will be purely business and the moment Mclaren stop producing a championship winning car, Lewis will leave because he is a champion and he is very marketable.

IMO there would be no such talk if the McLaren was still winning races. Now that its not we have rumors of Hamilton leaving, and also of Mercedes bailing out of F1.

Isn't it funny how fast loyalty evaporates?

From what i've read the guy is very disappointed on what has happened .
I've also read about this clause in his contract which allows him to quit if his name is brought under disrepute. So hell yes he can quit .
Personally i don't want him to . I'm just thinking of the incidents Schumacher has been involved in , but that didn't stop him from being a legend

I don't think he will leave. The whole story seems to me like a desperate attempt to clear his name. To show the world that he is pissed off with McLaren, etc. The truth is he was as involved as McLaren and better keep low profile, especially after the FIA statement yesterday that he and McLaren also lied on the second meeting with the stewards.

No he cannot possible leave, he said that he will stay with Mclaren for his whole career, that means he has to stick with them no matter what, if they pull out of Formula 1 then he is without a seat, even if other teams offer him one cos he said that he will stay with Mclaren forever. Easy question.

He wont leave, he is entrenched there and there is also no seat avaliable for him for a mid season swap.

Also he is as completley responsible as the team, the words came out of his mouth, he is responsible. There is no excuse, even if his team told him to say it, if he felt it wasnot the truth then he made that decision. No excuses. Now live with it.

Ditto.

So what if a driver is contemplating moving to another team? It happens all the time.

p.s. Would the ones shouting through the use of large and bold type please refrain? We're all adults in here, and we don't need that.

I guess in F1 nothing is what it seems, but as far as I can understand, Hamilton has a multiple-year contract, no?

Which means he can quit, but he cannot drive another car unless someboby bails him out?

As I understand the situation, Hamilton probably has certain escape clauses in his contract. If McLaren are found guilty of misconduct by the FIA, then Hamilton has a way out. He escapes McLaren, and is thus free to pursue other opportunities.

I guess he might have a "no-lie" clause somewhere, but it's still gonna take a s**t-load of Dollars, no?
