McLaren MCL36 Speculation Thread

If the image that appears to show pull-rod front suspension is a view of the front of the tub from the rear it has a very unusual shape.

I was thinking the same. I can't _really_ figure out what is going on, but it does seem like an odd shape.

It's been a while since I looked closely at a steering wheel. What are the 2 rows of 3 LEDs on each side of the display used for?

Pretty sure they`re the FIA flag/marshall lights, a blue one, a red one and a yellow one to correspond to the flag that is being waved...

I spotted this in the fire up yesterday

Yes! The sidepod looks very different!
It looks that the safety impact structure is placed higher again but it is located back the entry of the cooling.
It means that the lateral cooling maybe is placed in a far forward position; and also the radiators!

Activate it automatically is pretty sure forbbiden (safety reason). It is likely on the rear side as a paddle.

2 things look unusual in this image.
1. This pull-rod has a step agle. Maybe the tub is that low or it is mounted in the tea tray area.
2. It looks like the nose/monocoque fall down very early, beause I not can see it.
(Or it's an optical illusion and I'm wrong)

AMuS is claiming Mclaren might show up in Barcelona with a basic spec as opposed to the fully realized 2022 car. Interesting approach if true.

Seems that they wanted to make an article on the 2 potential approaches (Basic car in Barcelona and Developed car in Bahrain or Developed Car in Barcelona) and simply used McLaren as an example of it…

Whether they can bring a basic car and then a developed one is a matter of cost… I understand the reluctancy of Teams to bring their cars to Barcelona and let the other Teams copy their solutions, but correlation tests in Barcelona could be crucial… If a team gets 3 complete days of testing on their “close to racing spec” car it could also be a major advantage going into the season.
