Hello

Post

Hello folks, great forum. Just letting people know who and what I am. I have a small tuning business in Ireland. We have done a little racing and competed for the first time in 2008 in the Irish Time Attack Series. We hoped we could compete strongly and hold our head up high, and use it as a stepping stone into motorsport. We done better than expected, with one of the smallest budget's, and won the championship. I am an Engineer by trade, and spent a few years at Cosworth Technology in Wellingborough UK, before retuning to Ireland. I also helped out at Jedi Racing, in hill climb and F750 while living there.

Welcome to F1Technical Johnny :) , we're looking forward to your contributions.

I hope you don't mind me asking, but what car did you compete with in the time attack series?

Just to let you and others know, we happen to have a dedicated thread for introductions:

Maybe the mods can merge this thread into the intro thread?

Thanks folks, I hope I can match some of the tech comments I've read here, some are of very high quality, and hope to learn something as well.

At mx_tifosi, it's a Lancer Evo 4 RS. It was running 397 bhp, standard transmission and a twin plate Excedy clutch, Dunlop D02. Spent most of my time developing suspension, as Mondello Park is very tight and technical track, not a power circuit. It was the cheapest, lowest power car among the front runners. The driver is very good and gives very good feedback, which is a massive help. We also ran an Impreza STI for a customer and got him into 3rd in the series. We only got his car after the second round. This year we have increased our power to 481, and lost alot of weight. We have fitted a flat floor with an adjustable diffuser. The driver is pushed back as far as possible. We started of last Sunday week by being the fastest car all day, and 0.17 off the lap record, so looking good for 2009.
