Alfa Romeo C42

A place to discuss the characteristics of the cars in Formula One, both current as well as historical. Laptimes, driver worshipping and team chatter do not belong here.

wonder if Gary Anderson will still have some doubts about rear push rod haha. But yeah massive sidepod inlet, similar philosophy to AM, interesting notches in the floor, teams will definitely be looking at that.

Side pod intakes look enormous
Yes. And the intakes position are also less advanced compared to McL, Haas, AT and AM were it is more or less aligned with the front opening of the cockpit.

Also, roll bar air intakes are very small, reduced even compared to 2021... quite bizarre.
It definitely looks like they removed stuff from the centerline and packed in the sidepods.
There were rumours of Ferrari doing the same.

I wonder if the sidepod inlets are actually smaller but painted black, similar to Aston. They look huge, and I can’t think of a reason why that would be the case vs the rest?

Most interesting front wing so far. Looks like the central section is actually 4 planes and the rest of the wing is 3? Or is it just the angle?

Looking at the endplates it looks like 4 but hard to tell.

Interesting to see the frontwing indeed. the top flap at the center is larger than the rest of the top flap!
Also the vortex generator is larger than other teams so far.

Yes looks like a Mini plane just below the nose. Also the nose looks to be a bit "inward shaped" something I have not seen yet on other cars.
General philosophy seems similar to AM with the big undercut.

It is absolutely possibile. Nevertheless as we were pointing out in previous posts, the roll-bar air intakes are very small, so they could have moved some cooling devices from above the PU into the sidepods. we'll see

I don't think they invest in slimming the sides and miniaturising the intakes the way other teams do, for whatever reason

Rear and front push rod
They buy this from Ferrari? So points to Ferrari going the same way?!
Isn't that collaboration over?

Nope Alfa are doing most inhouse, own gearbox hence own rear suspension
