seems to be working pretty well. 8)
Hamilton atop P1 with a "split level" diffuser kinds of begs the question: how well does the ddd superimpose with driver skill for the diffuse cars? This isn't even the real ddd and he got button wondering what hit him.
I cant begin to imagine what LH is capable of in a brawn car. :P
For Sure!!

For DaveK:
Although being impressed by Mike Gascoyne over the years, when the man is looking for a job at the moment, I wouldn't take his word at absolute face-value. Surely the diffuser is part of an aerodynamic concept, but an xtra 400-600 N of free midships downforce wouldn't hurt too bad any day of the week, would it?

As for gearbox and suspension, well, in how many different ways can you design and build a gearbox, unless you would go for a radically altered position of the driveshafts?

After China, no doubt every team will sport some sort of additional central diffuser.

how many teams have the resources available to them to simultaneously develop an interim split level diffuser such as McLaren's, and still redevelop their aero concept for a proper DDD as quickly as possible though?

This will be where we may see the difference between RBR, who will keep their current car until Rd6 with a new car, compared to the likes of McLaren, Renault, BMW and Ferrari. These will have the funds and manpower to introduce interim solutions whilst still developing a complete overhaul at a quicker pace than RBR.

And where does this leave FI? Do they even have the funds to completely redevelop their car for a DDD? will they need to pay extra for the redesigned McLaren gearbox to suit a DDD?

oh and as an extra bit of info, Flavio has just come out claiming it'll cost 10mill to develop the new diffuser.

This is obviously something MrM should have considered before he inluded the diffuser in his political scheme.

By the end of the year, hundreds om millions of EUR will have been wasted by the BigDogs, cornering speeds off the clock and Brawn without money just making up the numbers at the back again.

It's FP1 - I wouldn't put too much money on it.

Button just got his championship dreams slapped off his face after 1st Friday Practice. okay, okay... it might be too much if I exaggerate but I just really want to go inside Jenson's head, and listen to his thoughts seeing Macca running a double-decker with the same engine sandwiching the two brawns.

Very interesting news from the paddock. Renault and RBR continue to complain that their diffuser designs that they showed the FIA last year were deemed illegal unfairly. Word is Charlie Whiting has responded to this and he says that the designs presented were actually not double decker designs, and were not that similar to the Williams and Toyota designs, which is why they were deemed illegal.

Just as I thought, Renault and RBR weren't telling the whole story, and their designs actually were illegal because they were not similar to the Williams or Toyota ones.

Ummm.... Uhhh....
Now I get it. Your design is deemed legal or not depending on whether it is like Williams or Toyota.

Nice to see the Macca's back down where they belong in FP2. Those who think its just a DDD making the Brawn fast are very delusional.
