Toyota finally doing it right

Post

Haha, toyota are finally there! 5 years in the making! But they made it big. From near points scoring to near 1st placing. :D

Just like BAR last year, suddenly to be taken seriously.

but BAR seem to have been sacrificing reliability for short lived performance.

i think toyota has improved alot under mike gascyone but i dont think we can judge them yet. i when the european races start and teams like mclaren , ferrari and williams get their act together then we will see toyota's real potential. Hopefully they will be fighting for wins.. makes it even more exciting!!!

yes but i think Toyota did the biggest stretch. Participating since 2002, and now they are concidered a top runner, RBR, BAR, Williams, and McLaren seem to be slightly under edged next to Toyota, from just aiming for points finish - Toyota are now aiming for podium wins, and a top 3 in the constructor's cup. Very impressive in my opinion.

3 races into the season, and you are already making such bold predictions...

Trulli has blown Ralf away in my opinion and is looking very rough around the edges. Definetely the weak link in the shiny, new Toyota chain.

To make it more ironic - seems like Ralf is payed more than Trulli.

With the amount of money that Toyota has poured into this 2005 car they must be praying that it succeeds this year. If it doesn't its hard to see the accountants pouring in the cash indefinately.

Well the big-wigs at Toyota have said the team must get podiums this season (With emphasis on the plural)....so far they have suceeded. Its nice to see them performing well...

...its also nice to see Ralf being shpwn up by Trulli, proving the opinion of many that he is useless lol.

Do you guys think Toyota will be able to develop their car sufficiently through out the season to keep this edge they have? And do you think they will carry this performance over to next year?

I certainly think so...with their budget they should be able to make some really good developments with this car, later in the season I would expect to see them nab at least ONE win. Also I don't think they will pull a BAR and loose pace next season. It is rumoured that although the BAR 006 was fast, they never really fully understood WHY...I doubt this is the case for toyota, with such a good technical director in Mike Gascoyine they should be able to keep themselves on top in future.

What do you all think?

If BAR don't know why last years car was quick then surely their performance was down to luck!! I hope that Toyota's speed is down to technical ability and driving this way if Ferrari do recover from this early season lull it won't just be Renault taking the fight to them.

With the high dependence on Aero in F1 these days, the previously unfulfilled potential, the Toyota budget allied to the fresh input and guidance from Gascoyne tells me that they will not 'pull a B.A.R.'

There'll be new aero stuff in Imola, let's hope they make another leap like they did between Aus and Mas. :)
